Ranking Every Crash Bandicoot Game as a Completionist

I have gotten the maximum % in every mainline (platforming focused) Crash Bandicoot game over the past few years, so I decided to rank them all based on how hard they are to complete. #crashbandicoot #ranking #crashbandicoot4

Crash Twinsanity turns 20 years old this year, so I figured it was time to go back and complete my first ever Crash Bandicoot game. I remember this being a buggy mess, but the 7 hours to get 100% were unlike any game I have played before. #crashbandicoot #crashtwinsanity #100

The Crash Bandicoot series is all about breaking every box to get the full experience, but what is the minimum number of boxes needed to beat Crash Bandicoot 4 instead? #canyoubeat #crashbandicoot #crashbandicoot4 #crash4
Getting the automatic kitchens in this game is so much fun
Thank you for not including the titans games in here. It makes this feel more coherent
A FEW HOURS A FEW HOURS I TAKE A WHOLE MONTH TO FINISH A LEVEL IN CRASH 4 but crash insane trilogy is chefs kiss mwah THE BEST CRASH GAME EVER AND IM BEING HONEST
crash Four is hell
I completed the 106% of Crash 4 earlier this year and I have to say it was my favorite Crash game by far. Only downside is the hidden stuff (that tbf were present in all the original trilogy, but TfB took it really far) and the collectible I really saw as pointless were the nverted gems, but I would usually get them all in one try while practicing for the n.sane perfect relic. Talking about the perfect relic, I really liked those, it took the franchise back to its roots with the original Crash Bandicoot where you got gems by getting all boxes and not dying. I also really liked the triple spin and slide spin over the running shoes, those mechanics makes completing every level a different and refreshing experience. Maybe they should have made the platinums and nsane relics optional collectibles just like the dev relics, a lot of people definitely weren't up for the challenge.
i was doing a sonic marathon but man now you make me wanna do a crash marathon again.. good vid btw youve earned a sub
0:40 Come on… Titans is incredible, just give it a try
I will eventually... But I've had enough crash this past year to last me a while, so I will have to come back to those entries.
@@AllStarSpecial_ Hope you enjoy it, and I will also say that this was an entertaining video. Keep up the good work 👍
Penny mentioned = subscription
Yeah, I platinumed the N Sane Trilogy... I am not going through the absolute suffering that is the Crash 4 platinum, fuck that.
Wise choice right there
That save at 9:55 almost made me jump off my seat LOL Great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this.
Hey! It took me awhile to beat those bosses and I wasn’t a kid!
Ngl your channel is very high quality with such little subscriber count. You deserve more bro.
Thanks! I'm slowly working towards it.
Loved the video! As someone who’s obsessed with 100% completion in the games I play especially platformers, The crash series is definitely no exception. Probably my favorite platformers of all time(tho I do eventually wanna check out the 2000s games) Even tho I’ve 100% the trilogy twice, I can’t deny, I’ll probably never get myself to go at it with crazy 4 unless I lose my sanity 💀. Like Jesus Christ they really went overboard l.
I started a new save file a month ago on Crash 4… I have 3 levels left to get all gems and the perfect relic.. then I gotta get the platinum relics and I’ve platinum the game. The first game I’ll have ever platinum… it’s been a month. A month of solid 4-6 hours of gameplay a day. This is one of the hardest games I’ve ever played.
That is definitely one of the hardest first platinum trophies to get. Any of the other crash games you could easily platinum in a few days after that beast.
@@AllStarSpecial_ I finally completed all gems and all gems on N. Verted levels and every N. Sanely Perfect relic. Now I’m about 5% through the platinum relics and man… I think those will be what stop me..
I personally found crash 1 to be easiest to get full completion, out of the N. sane trilogy.
I find that crazy, but the other games are definitely a little different in terms of gameplay so that could be the reason.
Fun fact: The cart race in wrath of cortex is way harder to beat doing nothing than it is playing the level. It all depends on what route Crunch goes, and he very rarely does everything perfect enough to be behind you the whole time.
I did not know that. I had always heard about it from other videos, and when I did for my playthrough I must have just gotten lucky cause I beat crunch on my first time doing nothing.
@@AllStarSpecial_ yeah, unless the chances are different on other versions, you got lucky. I tried to beat it by doing nothing like 5 times in a row, and lost every time.
good video !!! really underrated. im one of those freaks that decided to 106% Crash 4 too btw. and imma be honest it was actually fun imo. i think the game controls so well and the levels are so good that a lot of it was fun to do. not ALL of it was good, like the n verted mode and perfect relics.
Perfect relics are very fun actually imo but the damn platinum time relics though
@@Majed2000AFR the platinum’s are only bad cuz if the triple spin. But rushing the levels themselves is kinda fun.
@@GeneGerald925 that's exactly my point man
I completely agree. I love time trials, but the triple spin is a little too much speed for my liking
You have my congratulations, condolences, respect, and sympathy
Gotta respectfully disagree on Crash of the Titans. I don't consider a game that's the same genre as the norm a spinoff. The DS version is literally a classic crash game with boxes & everything but there's mutants you can jack. I suggest you check it out, it's good stuff.
Alright, that sounds pretty interesting actually. I’ve only played a little bit of Crash of the Titans on PS2, and just assumed the DS version was basically the same thing. Ill definitely check it out at some point, and based off people’s reactions to this video it seems like I might need to revisit the ps2 version as well
Weirdly i had a really, really hard time getting the good ending/100% in the wrath of cortex. Id honestly say i found it equally as hard as getting the good ending in the crash 1 remake
The hard part for me beating wrath of cortex was being patient enough for the load times on my PS2 lol
Crash 2 and 3 hard? How mindnumbingly easy does a game have to be for you to be good at it? 3:44 4:52
6:30 "Thinking means the level is bad."
in the region other than PAL, Crash Warped's Hot coco plat time was 1:18.00 instead of the 18s time it asks
I wouldn't make a top with the originals and remakes because they're technically the same games, except CTR NF because of the newer mechanics. In terms of difficulty, here's how I would rank them: 1. Crash 4 It's About Time 2. Crash Bash 3. Crash 1 4. Crash Nitro Kart 5. Crash Team Racing / Nitro Fueled 6. Crash 2 7. Crash The Wrath Of Cortex 8. Crash Tag Team Racing 9. Crash 3 Warped 10. Crash Of The Titans 11. Crash Mind Over Mutant 12. Crash Twinsanity The GBA games and Boom Bang are the ones I never played. Starting from 6 I don't find them to be that difficult so it was hard to rank them. I just don't do platinums/dev time trials in the games that have them because I want to keep my sanity, though I got plenty on Warped by just trying, that's why I ranked it so low. Twinsanity is also the easiest for me because outside of 2 or 3 annoying gems, once you nail the platforming it's super easy. As for Bash... the less said about it, the better.
Yea, I’ve played a bit of Crash Bash, but trying to complete that game sounds like a nightmare. The main reason for including Nsane versions in this list is because time trials make the biggest difference for completion. Stormy Ascent time trial is way harder than anything in the original Crash 1
Crash Bandicoot is far from the hardest platformer ever. Almost every platformer on NES is harder if we're just talking about beating the game. Completion wise i get it, but just beating the game i cannot agree with crash being that hard, not even for Crash 1.
Yea there’s plenty of harder platformers out there even including completion. But I find Crash 1 harder than any of the US Mario Games from that era. And honestly the biggest challenge with games like the lost levels or Metroid is how much progress is lost when you die/game over.
@@AllStarSpecial_ Personally the things that make platformers from that era hard for me is not the lives or game overs (although that was definitely a big part of it), its the physics and enemy/hazard placement. Enemy placements tended to be a lot more dickish back then compared to Crash 1 era, and especially nowadays. And jump physics tended to be a lot more rigid compared to later games, so if your jump wasnt good to begin with, you're very likely going to die. But i definitely understand it from the losing progress perspective.
Honestly, its hard fir me to see titans & mutants as spin offs
I get that, I see them more as beatemup games than platformers, so that’s why I didn’t include them (plus I just don’t want to complete them)
Good job on the crash 4 100%; I saw the nverted levels counted and I noped right out of there
That was probably the smart move.
😂As much as I love Twinsanity anak my favorite Crash game, even I gotta agree it's not the hardest game, but it's definitely the most unique and questionable Crash game will ever get😂
I would love for them to try something like that again, if done properly an open world crash game would be amazing.
@@AllStarSpecial_ maybe a Remake of some sort 🤔
For me personally I would rate them like this (In terms of 100%) btw I did 100% the games in ONE RUN no REPLAYS FOR THE RELICS AND NO REPLAYS FOR THE GEMS COLLECTED ALL 3 IN ONE RUN : 1-Crash Bandicoot 4 ( and I thought Crash 1 was nightmarish) 2-Crash Bandicoot 1 (was a mistake I lost half of my sanity) 3-Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex 4-Crash Bandicoot 2 5-Crash Team Racing 6-Crash Nitro Kart 7-Crash Bandicoot 3 8-Crash TwinSanity Also I thought Im the only one who names himself ass in the record section 😂
ASS is the initials for All Star Special, but I definitely was ass on some of those time trials lol
There _is_ a PC mod for Crash 4 that streamlines a lot of the completionist aspects... but I'm a proud owner of the Platinum Trophy (not to mention every Platinum Relic in the series). I'll definitely return to that entry again, complete it again, and have a blast doing so regardless (or quite possibly because) of the difficulty.
When I first finished the 106% I said out loud 'never again'. It's been about 6 months since I finished it, and I kinda want to do it again. I think it broke something inside of me.
what’s the count for the player broken boxes (so without chase sections and automatic tnts)
I had it written down somewhere but I can’t find it now. I think it was around 60 that crash had to break himself ( not including all those nitros in it bears repeating)
@@AllStarSpecial_ alright, that's cool!
Good video 🎉 Where would CTRNF rank?
I haven't done any of the time trials yet so I'm really not sure. My guess would probably be either #2 or #3 for me cause I'm definitely not as good at CTR

That is too much crash for any sane person to handle. I will likely go for max% on all the other titles at some point, but there are too many great games out there for me to play Crash Boom Bang on the DS
Hi @@AllStarSpecial_ . Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my comment, from another Crash fanatic I appreciate it :) If you go for Max% in other Crash games, may I suggest Tag Team Racing: it is a bizarre game, but it has a unique charm to it; it's also not to tricky (which is good for your sanity, lol). I would also give Titans another chance if I were you, it is VERY different, but it is worth a fair trial. Thanks again, and have a nice day :)
It may just be me, but I strugggggled with getting 100% on the Area 51 race in Crash Warped. I spent hours on that level alone when I first played it lmao
Yea that one can be tough, but I also beat you in Mario Kart everytime, so I think you're just bad at racing games...
You are not the only one for some reason its easier in the remaster but the PS1 version was tough come to think about it what I noticed is that Area 51 is harder on the PS1 while Rings of Power is vise versa it's easier in the PS1
I don't agree with considering Crash of the Titans as a spin-off. Even though I never liked that game and I consider it the worst Crash game I ever played, I'm pretty sure it's a mainline Crash game. Still, you choose what games you want to tackle.
I think most people would probably agree with you, but since it's more of a beat-em-up rather than a platformer I have no desire to play it for now
@@AllStarSpecial_ I don't blame you
Meep. (Amazing video! Good stuff)
Meep. (Thanks!)
I just got all the platinum relics in crash 4! Now all I have is the n sanely perfect relics, got 14/38 already so far, really want that platinum trophy 😭 Its a no brainer that Crash 4 is defo the worst for completionists.
The grind is real my friend. Good luck, you got this
@@AllStarSpecial_ update: I did it!
@@m-biskit4060 How long did it take? I love to keep track of this stuff. I thought I was good at gaming until this came along. Of course, Crash 4 and completionist is innately biased to good gamers. I struggle to just rush the game. I got to credits screen after about 10 hours. Of course, I was new to difficult platformers and had not played much Crash before. Maybe I'll be better in the future. I tried to move towards completion and got to about 15 hours total play with very few extras obtained. I struggled with many elements of this game, though I truly loved the experience and think at least 35% of the game is remarkable. One of the best games of the last 10 years, to my mind. It's the 60% that's iffy, or I simply hate and wish didn't exist, strictly from a game design standpoint. However, the fact you have to get Plat Trials is a step too far. N. Verted was needless. Although Perfect Relics is very difficult, I agree with their existence. I have mixed feelings on other elements, but most are not really relevant to completionist. I really dislike the Masks and struggle with their abilities. I have a feeling that 106% will require 200 or even 500 hours, if I struggled to even move an inch beyond end credits in 15 hours (not even aiming too much for Gems or all Boxes). I struggled with Time Trials even on the first Levels. I completed early Flashback Tapes but struggled to obtain later ones (I could obtain most, for sure, but then completing them is even harder). The final Levels will kill my chances, as I know I can perfect the first levels and/or get lucky with enough tries. The last 5 or 10 Levels of the game will crush me, and that's excluding N. Verted mode. I played on Retro Mode and struggled quite a bit until the N. Trophy Level, then I went to Modern Mode, and it was a nightmare until the end of the game, other than a few Levels that were okay. The final Levels had about 4 difficult sections that required like 200 deaths in total (80 + 70 + 30 + 20). I've seen people die more than that, but to be good at the game means you can do all that stuff in about 20 deaths or something! I know going for every Box will kill me closer to 1,000 times for these difficult sections. That's dozens of hours just for that! By that stage, I'm either good enough to do the whole thing without dying, or I'm never getting 106%. Not going for 106% yet, though. Going to do it on PS4 slowly, slowly... P.S. It was a bit harder for me. I was on Switch with 30 fps and fairly bad controls and imperfect visuals. I assume PS4/PS5/PC is a bit easier with 60 fps, controls, and graphics. Most people that get 106% do it on a better system than Switch, though there are a few players that got 106% on Switch in under 100 hours, so yeah.
just want to tell you about the skips in the atlas-sphere level in n tranced, I suck at those levels but with the skips I easily got platinum
Those definitely would have helped. I remember using a skip for at least one of the levels, but I honestly don't know if I did for any of the other ones.
Very surprised by how small your channel is with this video it definitely came off as a niche crash CZcamsr with thousands of subs. This was a very entertaining video thank you! And as for hardest platformer idk I haven’t really played many recent platformers joever celeste is on my list currently though so seeing it mentioned definitely makes me want to play it more crash 4 is currently kicking my butt on a replay through it so might have to go with that as of now
If you're enjoying Crash 4, I think Celeste is the perfect 2d counterpart. Both games are fun on the initial playthrough, and then going for 100% forces you to really master the game mechanics.
100 views? This video was quite good and entertained me during my lunch. So thank you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
I just started to watch the video, and already agree with your point about the characters' design. The original trilogy for PS1 managed to look and sound absolutely gorgeous, and then the first thing we get for the next generation console looks like they didn't even try.
Right! Naughty dog knew how to take full advantage of what the ps1 could do, but comparing the graphics in this to something like Ratchet and Clank on the ps2 shows how far they missed the mark.
just today i finally 100% the game
What a fantastic video! Really enjoyed it and your dedication to this challenge! Can't believe this doesn't have more views.
Thanks! This was my first video so it didn't get recommended much at first (which was probably a good thing because its definitely rough around the edges)
the title of this video is so misleading... dude, why?
Lmao😂😂
I had a PS2 since before I was born. I got The Wrath of Cortex for my 18th birthday and played it one time, genuinely enjoyed it. Got to the final warp room then had to leave. Came back, PS2 wouldn't turn on whatsoever for anything. The Wrath of Cortex killed my PS2.
I still love this game despite all its flaws. It had an amazing voice cast overall. Especially with the elemental masks. Also the last game Clancy Brown voiced Dr Neo Cortex and Uka Uka in a mainline game. Unless you count crash nitro kart of course.
While I really disliked breaking boxes for the gem in the jeep levels, I really hated it with that Coco skate level, the 30th level with like 100 boxes, god damn that shit sucked
I can definitely see how that level could be frustrating, but I managed to get in just a couple tries so I didn’t hate it yet
I think that when Crunch is hit by Crash's bazooka, it briefly breaks him out of Cortex's mind control.
Yea, I guess that makes sense, but it is definitely confusing on a first playthrough until you see that ending cutscene.
@@AllStarSpecial_ Yeah.
@@AllStarSpecial_ I always thought he punches Cortex out of anger cuz he just stands there and lets him get hit by the bazooka, but yeah the other explanation makes more sense
I will debunk some stuff But not now
I will read these debunks But not now
