Sometimes work gets in the way....777-200 to Amsterdam
I broke my nothing but London streak as I only flew there once in August. Getting two Amsterdam trips in a row is interesting especially one as flying pilot vs relief pilot.

Before you comment stating I am whining this is just an open discussion on various roles I can be in. I love my job and career.I knew going into this that I would fly less but the description vs reality is very different. I'm leaning towards staying on the 777 for one more vacancy bid to see how the first of the year shakes out flying wise.

Waking up having no plans only to end up in a 777 headed to Honolulu 4 hours later is crazy. If my wife had not woken up early I would have missed out on this trip. Timing out is no fun for the passengers or the crew. Yes I could’ve extended my duty day but then I would’ve been awake till almost 830 in the morning and that would be over 24 hours since I would’ve had actual proper rest. No Thank you. Many experts did lots of research and said after this many hours on duty, I’m dangerous. They gave me the opportunity to extend, but it’s not worth the risk.

You can post all the Amsterdam trips you want! We just got back from a transatlantic cruise that started in Amsterdam which is one of our favorite places to visit in Europe. Definitely #1! Great video! Thanks for posting, Bill in Utah Ps. We met a couple on the cruise and have kept in touch with them since the cruise ended . He flys 737 out of MIA for well known carrier that you are familiar with. He has 28 months more to go till 65. He will have 40 years in with the company 😳

With your seniority, would it be difficult to get Asian trips out of DFW?
Very difficult by seniority. HNL, LHR and ICN are all 3 day trips but ICN pays 13 hours more than HNL while it pays 9 hours more than LHR.
I recall you did get NRT once.
Did you decide to stay on the 777?

Progressive doesn’t have it in their system so they charged the same as my Ioniq 5 for now. Nothing crazy but insurance is very person dependent

Looks like a great car but why did they get rid of the active camera on the rearview mirror ( my 2020 Bolt Premier has that ) and why just one window ( driver side ) auto up/down ? Most other car manufacturers have ALL windows auto up/down.
I haven’t found all auto up and down on all windows common especially in this vehicle class. Which vehicles are you seeing that on?

My family has 2 teslas a Model Y and I have a Model 3. Mom just picked up an all black 2RS AWD! It's a great commuter car and feels more upscale than the price. There were a lot of incentives as well which made it super affordable!

Classic in Grapevine. I went thru internet sales. Crappy sales experience but fine.
Why are GM's so slow to charge? I mean, 150kw is old tech with many vehicles at 400/800. If you are on a long trip, you want 200 on up.
I think you’re confusing numbers. Which cars charge at 400/800? There’s 400/800 bolt architecture but that’s not charging speed. Almost as important is the charging curve. How long does it sustain peak speeds.
@geekontheflightdeck Both Porsche and Kia can charge at 800 about 270kwh. My Model P90D charges at 200. Geeley makes cars that charge at 550 sustained.

I really appreciate your comments considering the number of other EVs you've owned. I had a 2014 LEAF until it got totaled almost 2 years ago (my son was driving, beyond air bag burns he was shaken but OK). Been thinking about another EV, but haven't really done much looking yet.
Our 2013 LEAF ( can always tell a real owner when LEAF is capitalized) was the most reliable vehicle we ever owned. Zero days in the shop for our 3 year lease.
@@geekontheflightdeck Absolutely! Ours was 8 years old and had only lost one bar in 46K miles. Never needed anything beyond Cabin Air Filters and a set of tires. We miss it dearly!
QoL more than anything man! I bid off the 777 for a 737 and couldn’t be happier. Plus all those times, crossing the ocean will catch up with you and shorten your life span. Also, regarding pay, live below your means! I cant tell you how many pilots out there spend their pay on new fancy “toys”. Then, when the economy takes a dip, and unpaid leaves, or worse, furloughs happen, they can’t afford anything! They’re broke and can’t understand why. Cheers mate!
Yeah we live far below our means. Most of my paycheck is sent to savings

Airbus is far better when the weather is good ! For bad weather I prefer Boeing!
If it’s not about the money, then I’d stay 777 FO, I’m sure there are others above your seniority looking at the same opportunity. Then reassess in the new year. Besides, I’m sure there’s new 777 routes that will come on line out of DFW in the future.

A refreshingly straightforward review.
Seems to me that you like the 777, just not thrilled with how often you get to actually fly. If it were me, I'd wait it out a bit longer, hoping for a line spot. If you dont make enough ground to do that, then reconsider in say 6mo-year. Love your videos, keep it up Darren 😊
Heya Darren, saw this after you were live and wanted to say thank you for doing these! If there's any feedback I would offer it's 2 items that come to mind (very minor, should be easily addressable). 1) the camera you are using is loosing focus on you and then is regaining a few seconds later (caught my eye when the background image was crystal clear but your facial details would be occasionally less sharp). Probably just need to turn off auto focus and set manually or similar. 2) love that you take questions from us in real time, however not all of us can see the question you're reading and you sometimes read the question VERY fast or skip over words which makes it difficult to know what you are addressing. I want to get this exact car. Got a letter in the mail saying I was approved for their 0.9% interest rate for 24 or 36 months Idk what the payment would be but I’m not looking to pay more than 550 a month on a lease

I clicked on the thumbnail of Doug demuro on the Doug demuro Channel and got this guy. There's got to be something super weird about this like red details on the interior come on the wheels are big, they didn't need to be that big, that blue paint probably has some name other than blue, that's weird, controls very similar to a gas car...weird!

Thanks for the video. I have a gas 2022 Chevy Equinox, though I like the styling and the features, the engine is terrible. I was hoping that Chevy’s EV selections would be a little quicker but I feel like I wouldn’t gain anything in terms of acceleration going from a gas Equinox to an EV Equinox. I ended up getting a used Model Y and I enjoy it. I wish it had Apple CarPlay, but I’m trying to get over that 😆. I’m hoping that the SS EV Blazer will be what I’m looking for in terms of speed.
I always seem to miss your live streams... but nonetheless enjoy your videos.. 2 questions for you.. A lot of times on your overseas trips when you are the relief pilot, you refer to yourself as the "FB"... what does that mean? In my head, I'm thinking you're calling yourself as slang the flight "b_t_h" 2) When you are such... and you don't get to takeoff or land. Do you also log the same flight hours as the capt nd fo? If the flight is 10 hrs from nose up to nose down, you get to log the 10 hours even if u didn't take off or land? Thanks.. Don't forget to make the video explaining senority in its detailed form.. FB it’s a term here. FO First Officer. FB Food Boy. FC Film Critic. Just kidding. Just additional pilots that are First Officers. For a 3 pilot crew I log 2/3s the flight time. For a 4 pilot crew I log half. Seniority is an incredibly difficult monster. In time.

Great overview! I have a Blazer EV and love it. Someone pointed out that Apple recently allowed people to link their Apple Music playlists to CZcams music playlists. I did that and now my Apple Music is on my CZcams music app 👍👍

Great quality and kudos for it being your first OBS setup. The most user-friendly, in my opinion, is StreamLabs OBS, but OBS standalone plugin is quite optimized. Wired connection FTW! I was at my son's soccer game, sorry I missed yet another live. You can also multi-stream to multiple platforms at once.

It’s a very well thought out vehicle especially in 2LT. No make omissions. It’s a great everyday car that happens to be electric without screaming I’M ELECTRIC! ha.
