Every elder has his or her own particular life story to recall and retell. Drawing on my poems, songs, and life story recordings over many years, I trigger such telling's through this performance, which is built around my father's life experience in the period 1930 until 1960. Readings, recitations, songs, and audience contributions are included.
I'm a former university lecturer in Sociology, and international guest lecturer; in-career course director for overseas teachers. Poet, with 8 published collections.

Jack Griffin never complained about the hardship of inclement weather, as he milked his cows for the past 30 years on the bleak cutaway bog, which is part of his 13 acre holding at Ballyegan, Lisselton, parish of Ballydonoghue. It did hurt though, when his livelihood was being taken from him. This treatment of Jacks way of life is a feast of color, music, and poetry.

Prettaaaaay good! Excellent content in a youtube full of mediocre stuff. Living and working on a farm I see the relics of ould daycentcy that is preserved and recreated in this film. The narration is very apt and compliments the film very well and vice versa. I would like to see a list of credits for the poets and song writers. God bless the prodigious production.

A very honest look at how things used to be. My favourite part was when the man came in and greeted the couple with "God save all here." That was a greeting I remember well. Lets start using these endearing greetings again.

I love the story about the two brothers and the fireside scene and I remember well those days. There was a great sense of togetherness amongst Irish people in those days that is gone now. Probably down to the world has got smaller, Ireland is no longer the isolated island on the edge of Europe, a lot of Irish people got richer and that sense of humour has somewhat gone into the past.
