My dog was diagnosed at 11 years with mitral valve disease, she is on a rather low daily dose of pimobendan and cardalis since then and has shown no significant progression in 3 years, not in CHF yet so fingers crossed she has a few more years! However she also has a collapsing trachea due to a spine deformity so she's always coughing a little, which makes it hard to tell when her condition worsens

The only dog that lived a long active life was the one with his balls intact, my mother adopted one that developed something and had to remove it, after that the poor dog looks like a pig, but that’s also on my stepfather’s fault. I’m moving near them and will take the dog cause my stepfather was only making him more and more fat, the poor dog can’t even jump.

I followed blindly the good advice of my Vets over the years and went along with the spaying etc without regard to the physical effects it was potentially causing to my beloved pets. Until now!. I now have 2 Australian Terrier dogs a boy and a girl, both desexed. My male not only has hypothyroidism but also has Cushings diagnosed at age 7yrs. My girl is struggling with weight at only 3 yrs old despite my efforts to combat it. To remove all the reproductive organs at a young age for my dogs has seen them grow in size much larger than the breed standard, it has led to incredibly expense ongoing costs for my males treatments that has shortened his life span significantly all because I blindly followed so called good advice and best practice. I love my Vets, I still love my Vets despite what happened to my dogs. Now, however, going fwd, I will no be so hasty to rush towards the under the knife solutions. I will wait until they reach FULL maturity and allow the endocrine system to establish a good baseline for my dogs future health. Vets need to learn about alternatives to the standard surgical remedies, perhaps a vasectomy for males and leaving at least an ovary in females for ongoing benefits should be investigated. I think of it this way, would you take your pre teen children to a surgeon and say remove all the reproductive organs? Hell no, you say! But this is in effect what we are doing to our pets. As a responsible pet owner, having this choice pushed onto me by well meaning Vets has now lead to this outcome in my dogs, so having done a massive amount of research into this even my Vet is agreeing more needs to be investigated, all pets and all pet owners are NOT the same, be as holistically minded as we profess to be towrds humans because our pets are as important as any other family member. I have learned a hard lesson that my male especially is bearing the cost of. For me, I will wait a year or so before taking "action" to adress a potential issue in the future and my Vets are ok with this. We need common sense to prevail. The snip is costing pets and pet owner heartbreak both physically and financially......thanks for your video, I hope more action and research follows. 😊

Noticed a big tummy from my 11 year old chihuahua . Went to the vet and he said she had fluid built up in her stomach after doing X-ray and blood work he said there’s a heart problem but doesn’t hear a murmur but whatever is happening in her heart it’s backing up into her liver. Prescribed furosemide, and enalapril. Only for 14 days, if I want more I’ll need to go to a 24/7 hospital for dogs . But that’s even more expensive

It irritates me how he complains about not getting a full info (and simultaneously „indirectly” accuses the vet staff either of withdrawing that info on purpose or being altogether incompetent) when he didn’t even go himself 😤😤 It is so common that owners send their spouses, parents or even kids to the vet and those people don’t know anything about the pet😓😓 Do we look like psychics? Does he have an appointment videotaped? Otherwise how possibly could he know what was actually said and what was not (it also happens a lot - not everything being passed on). So maybe his big conclusion should be „Go to the vet YOURSELF before subjecting your pet to any procedure.” Sincerely

Mike has mentioned multiple times that the dog is both his and his fathers so the owner of the dog did take it to the vet….just not both owners, and then one owner agreed to the surgery without talking to the other and it got messed up.
