I'm only using it for pasta dough. Small bits get caught up at the edges, fall into the machine and dry out. It rattles about like a baby's toy. I'm trying to shake them out but no luck. @@MagsBCreations

Hi Samuel! I don’t put the fenders back on. It makes it easier to clean the rollers. They really serve no purpose.

I'm a bit confused about what you have done. You didn't need to take off both sides of the base. The side with the dial doesn't need to be touched to clean the machine. And it causes problems like you are experiencing when you do so. If you could send me some pictures of what you have done I will try to help you get it back together. @@MagsBCreations I never disassembled them before but decided to gamble with it because either way overtime id have to buy another one anyway because of all the clay build up, and my white clays were starting to get streaks of mucky colors added in and i constantly have to stop through each roll to scrape out the extra colors. I didn't look at tutorials because it looked simple with all the screws, but i didn't realized that there would be lugs on the inside of the machine that keeps the whole thing together.

@@MagsBCreations Right now i got the side without the dial open and i can close it because its a longer screw that goes right through to the other side, no lugnuts on the inside of that part on the sides, they're only on the inside bottom base. It's back together but it's not perfect because i still cant open the dial end but i don't think i want to anyway as long as i can still use the machine and i think i can. Only one end is screwed back but the other end only has 1 screw holding it together but the screw is more "stuck" in place rather than screwed in because it's tight so it's not necessary, it feels sturdy enough so i'm not bothered by it. The rubber grips are now there to keep the machine from moving too much. I think ill keep it this way with only one end back together and the other end being held in place so when i need to clean it again ill just take it apart and only reattach one end.

Hi Andrew! If you apply the painters tape around the rollers & blades you shouldn't have any issues aligning the rollers. If I'm not reading your question correctly, please let me know.

I made this many years ago when I was buying up older machines on Ebay for a class. Not sure if it is a 150, but pretty sure it was an Atlas

nah ok, my pasta roller is just cheap shit, my blades are like 0.3mm thick aluminium, so I can dent it using only my hands. Poor thing I got it as the birthday present :D

You are welcome! Those are rubber bands for babies' hair. I am using it to better control the depth that the tool is engraving. You may not need to do that depending on the thickness of your clay. I'm not using it on the precision tool because it is cutting through the clay. At times I also use it if either tool is dragging across the clay when moving around the clay. It is really a case by case situation. I have use the engraving tool on baked clay. I feel I get a better result engraving it raw. The baked clay puts more stress on the tool holder.

I believe this one is an Atlas. Atlas & Marcato are basically the same machine and come apart the same way.

Hi Daniel, I used to do both sides as well. But, I don't recommend that for most people as it is more difficult to do that and put it back together. And I really wouldn't want most people to mess around with the gears. If there are viewers out there who want to do this and feel confident doing it, then go for it. Thanks for your input.

I think you will be fine with just a regular cleaning. The pasta dough will probably just flake off. If there are any rusty spots I would clean that up with some extra fine steel wool. The gear side is most probably not affected.

I'm glad to be of help. 1/16 inch might be a bit too small to get a good cut. But if you are doing tile miniatures you might be able to cut a bigger square and engrave/score the lines for the tiles. Anything that is less than a 1/4" tends to get pulled up by the blade and messed up and/or messing up the other cuts.

I have never seen an Imperia with removable blades. I ordered one a few years ago with the motor and I returned it. It was full of plastic parts and the motor didn't feel secure enough for clay. Because of that experience I wouldn't recommend them. You can get an Atlas/Marcado that is modified to have removable blades from Mona Kissel. www.monakissel.com/toolspasta.html

@@MagsBCreations Been using it for months, works great. And only has two plastic parts, the blades. No problems whatsoever and the blades come out in a snap. One screw the side cover comes off and the blades are easily accessible. Love it. Cost me $50. !

Hi Tammy! I started teaching how to cut polymer clay on the Silhouette machines soon after I got my SB and really haven't delved much into all the other things that it can do. You are right, there aren't a lot of videos online. I only use it now on a few of my items. And got a Glowforge laser LY which engraves materials that would be harder to do on the SB, so not much incentive for me to get deeper into the SB. I can help you with the polymer clay settings. But for the other materials I am at as much of a loss as you are.

I certainly have been excited to try with clay as well...I have plenty of premo to play with...I sa on one video where to take the clay sheets that are ready to cut like you do BUT bake them for just a little bit before cutting them...This makes sense and I was going to try that possibly today. Have you tried that? Also I am going to check out the Glowforge laser right now as well...Do you really like it?

@@tahomyjo I did some testing on cutting baked clay and it is doable. It just depends on the project. The items I make using the SB need to be pliable so I cut raw clay the most. If you pre-bake the clay you pretty much have to use it flat. I like my GF a lot.

@@MagsBCreations I never looked at it that way about having to keep it flat!! But what about freezing it first then let in thaw just a tad before cutting? Whatcha think?

You really don't need to firm it up to cut on the SB. I tested it on both SB and Silhouette machines and never found a big difference to the result. Maybe if you live in a particularly hot/humid environment. If your clay is really gummy then you should leach it in printer paper to help draw out some of the plasticizers. The only thing that causes a bad cut is if there are air bubbles between the clay and the freezer paper. If the blade hits an air pocket it can pull up the clay and give a bad cut. If you are just cutting solid color clay, no problem, just redo.

Once the gears are stripped it is pretty hard to get it back to normal. If you have a handy person in your life they may be able to look at the gears and see if they can realign them. Going forward with your next machine (if you can't realign this one) Never use the thickest or thinnest settings to save your gears. And never try and process clay that is thicker than the second thickest setting. Either use a roller or your hands to get the clay even to the second thickest setting. Good luck.

I did a quick search through CZcams and there are a few videos on getting to the gears and fixing/replacing them. If yours are plastic then I would contact the manufacturer and see if they sell replacement gears.

No you can't. The HTV adheres to the fabric and can be reused. Regular vinyl can only be used once as it will peel off the fabric and stick to the clay.
