Military Honors for Charles E. Johnson
Dr. Charles Earl Memusi Johnson March 18, 2021 - This was "the end of the day" for our father, Dr. Charles Earl Memusi Johnson. That's how he referred to passing from this life to return to the Ancient Home from whence we came.
Charles, after a fascinating, adventurous, and pioneering life full of singular accomplishments, passed away at age 87 in Vermont with his daughter, Christina, at his side.
Charles attended DuSable High School on the South Side of Chicago where he was born, and became the first in his family not only to complete college (Roosevelt University in Chicago), but also to earn a doctoral degree (University of Vienna). He lived in America, Europe, and Africa; and served in the Military Intelligence Corps, a branch of the United States Army, during the Cold War. Subsequently, while employed by the International Atomic Energy Agency, he was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency as an espionage agent, for which he worked during the JFK Administration. He was fluent in Russian and German, and became a notable German-language stage, film, and television actor while a student in Vienna.
Later, he was a professor at Lovanium University in Congo-Léopoldville, and at Boston College, taught at the Harvard University Business School, was a Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of Cincinnati, worked as a consultant for the global business advisory firm Arthur D. Little, and was appointed as the first African-American Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Charles later played a vital role consulting and assisting the State of Vermont Department of Education to promote its Safe Schools Initiative. Even at the age of 87, he still taught a course at Dartmouth College Osher Institute. Above all, Dr. Charles Earl Memusi Johnson was our Dad, a beacon in our lives, who, along with our Mom, Marianne Kaufmann Johnson (deceased), helped raise us and place us on a blessed trajectory that, in turn, was a continuation of the roles our grandparents played. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lucius Johnson and Ellee Mitchell Johnson (daughter of Henry and Louisa Mitchell) and his wife Joan McNear Johnson.
Charles is survived by five children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. There is so much more to share about this man. He will be dearly missed, yet his memory will live through the stories and words people share.

Among the annals of national anthems as a prelude to sporting events, few have topped the one delivered by Whitney Houston before Super Bowl XXV in 1991 in Tampa, Florida. A woman, her incredible voice, and the bare minimum of extraneous notes. Her rendition came at a particularly patriotic time, just after the onset of the Persian Gulf War, and was released as a single. It was re-released afte...

THE BEST ANTHEM OF ALL TIME!!!!
Our anthem is actually titled the "Star-Spangled Banner." The hyphen is misplaced.
What a voice 😢!!
America used to be so much happier, it seems😢
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yikes, that orchestra! Whitney's a 10, and they were a 4.
America's power to create patriotic emotions is not scientific. You have to feel it, accept and surrender to Americans.
czcams.com/video/KR_7s_iR8xw/video.html czcams.com/video/2TMAAXw5tSg/video.html (2:06~) What do you think these videos ?
Honestly, no one has ever or will Ever top this. The voice, the look, the patriotism, and her beauty. Will never be topped
This crowd gave her a warm/ soft welcome, but when she was done…they exploded with her…timeless 💗🎉
THE best performance of the National Anthem ever! Brings tears to my eyes.
So that´s why that little girl form that one video tried to do such a high note
やっぱり凄い方✨✨✨✨
Marvin Gaye's version is better, 1983 NBA All-Star game...
His version made me sleepy😴
Who is Marvin gaye ☠️
You are delusional. Whitney is #1!
What a stunning woman. God rest her soul. No one will ever top Whitney’s performance. Ever. ❤
This is the best performance ever!
Thank GOD! The voice of Whitney Houston is very good, I think that's the best US anthem voice and I suprise that the conductor is Jahja Ling!! He is one of the key person of Stephen Tong Evangeliscal Ministries International (STEMI). *This performances is blessed by God,* *All glory to God!*
Best ever
Wow...just wow. Back off everybody..❤
Everytime my school plays this in the morning im lost in her voice so beautiful
アメリカ人で良かったと思える瞬間 I♡USA
Perfect performance topped with the awesome high note mini run on the word 'free' and the three count punctuation on 'brave'. Wow.
Now that is what you call talent
It's so, so, so beautiful. . .
I never heard anyone sing the National Anthem like she did. No one. RIP Whitney, we miss you dearly.
Got shivers listening to this. A beautiful, glorious voice that went silent way too soon. RIP Ms. Houston.
fergie did it better smh
You wish
Marvelous
Slang, Twerk, offensive language, boobies and auto-tune is what will be proposed for the opening ceremony in Paris 2024. I wish us French had a Whitney too
I'm not even American and years later I still come to watch her sing this.
I am from germany and get tears in my eyes listening to Whitney. She makes me migrate to the US :D
Don't
@@_stxrblazerr trust me - I wont. The golden times of the US are over and germany is way better to live in. But the USA is such an interesting country.
@@hans823it's not as good as it used to be for sure
聴いてるだけで心が揺さぶられて、自由を求めて戦いに行こうって思う!偉大な歌声だ
Best version of this song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the way she just skips up there in her tracksuit and belted out a classic version of the Star Spangled Banner!!!! No problems!!!! And the best thing was the way she punctuated the last sentence with first one fist in the air and then she took it home and punctuated the last line ❤😂❤😂❤😂❤❤❤❤❤
God bless the oceans, the seas, Europe, Asia, Africa, Americas, the skies, the moons, the suns, the creatures, and if possible, my future wife.
Not my national anthem...but Holy Fuck!
This is patriotism.
it makes me so happy. I was not alive during this performance but boy do I feel like emotion and power as if I was there. I’m so proud too! I black women to represent our whole country. If only people still saw how lucky they are to have the ability to live how they do today. 💗 YEAH WHITNEY!!!
I was 15 years old when she performed the Star-Spangled Banner, and everybody was talking about this performance for the longest time!! it’s like we all forgot about the game and focused on her performance. You would hear it on the radio all the time. Even good morning America shows like that could not stop talking about it.
And now we have Lizzo.
Yet lizzo is retiring very soon ☠️
Watching in 2024 ! This Is the best version of the US national anthem ! 🇺🇸❤
Young, Innocent, Free-Spirited Whitney Houston gave a natural soul lifting vocal Exploits with this. Tears streaming, we lost a rare musical gem. R.I.P Whitney
Whitney and her voice are Beyond perfect! I've loved her and her music since I was a little girl. WHITNEY IS A LEGEND!
Damn! Every Single time I hear this, I can't hold back my tears 😥🤗❤ ☝️🕊

I miss that country and that NFL!
Still the best in 2024
No matter what, the most outstanding, beautiful performance of of this country's national anthem EVER. EVER, EVER , EVER! Sang with strength, dignity and pride in her country. How I wish to God that she and her dear, sweet daughter had lived on our earth beyond all that....but it wasn't to be....only GOD knows why........
The greatest singer of the world in human histoty!!
