Free tanks are always nice, but sometimes they do come at a price. This 55 gallon originally built in 1983 has sure been through some rough times, but restoring it to usable condition has been fun. As an added bonus I get to show you how I did it.

Quicker than waiting months for it to sink, but also a littlwe time consuming. If you are not framilliar with using a pressure canner/cooker be sure to read the directions and follow them to the letter...SAFETY FIRST!!!!!!!!

Today we had the good fortune to be able to rescue two monster size Irridescent Sharks from a local Fish Keeper who came to realise that they could no longer give them the care they needed. I was happy to be able to help them find a place where they could continue to live healthy lives.

Bio-film is as natural as it gets when introducing a new piece of wood to your aquarium. Though it may be unsightly, it is first and foremost harmless to your aquarium....... Many fish as well as invertebrates like crayfish, shrimp, goldfish and plecostomus will actually eat it reducing its unattractive footprint in your tank.

The most important thing to do when resealing a larger fishtank is removal of every little scrap of old silicone.
