With all do respect to you.There was a big fallout in Jazz Community because a lot of Jazz Artist,Musician and Bands because a lot of them started playing Smooth,Fusion,Jazz and they were called sellout's.Because they stop playing straight ahead jazz music.Artist like Grover,Herbie Hancock,Freddie Hubbard,Chick Corea Dr.Donald Byrd and many others.Having worked in Jazz Radio many decades in Philly.I sat in on my share of live interviews.Another example is when a lot of artist left their old labels and sign with (C.T.I)There is more layers as to what was going on in the Jazz World /Family.

I LOVED Sylvester. He helped me so much to understand it was okay to be myself and I had nothing to be ashamed of. His falsetto was fashionable long before Prince (and I loved him, too), and his backup singers, Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes, added so much to his overall sound. I play him at least once a day! in 1978 when my friends and I were sweating it out on dance floors in Frisco discos, if you had told us that any of us that we would still be listening to this effusive classic in 2024 I would have accused you of being on something heavy. And you'd enjoy Cerrone's music too.

I went through all her vinyl and made her a mix tape with this on it, Michael Wyckoff, Change, Joyce sSmms.etc. I made a really cool spacey cover, this is like 85 around then so I made the cover of the Cassette using a copier machine at the library and then coloring the stuff in and like using stickers. And I had to type out the names using an old school type writer. I really went all out. People don't know how hard it was to just do simple tasks like that, She didn't have 2 decks, but she did have a really nice turntable with really clean needle so I couldn't mix the songs. But I really tried to match them beat for beat. Going into the next was as smooth as could be without 2 decks.That was the first time I ever actually tried djing, i guess. She actually cried when I gave her to her.She died of cancer not long after that and I had no idea that she was even sick.She was a good woman.

I love Voyage. My recently departed dad introduced me to them when I was a kid. So they hold a lot of happy memories for me. This song in particular. It was early March 2006, I was 19. I’d left home and had just moved to my first house and it was a lovely sunny day. I was cleaning and unpacking with the windows open and this song came on and it stopped me in my tracks. It was so full of hope and happy vibes and It summed up how I felt. Sad to be leaving my childhood behind but so excited for my new freedom and future. Whenever I hear this song I get those feelings again. It’s incredible. Even if you’re not a fan of disco there’s no denying this piece of music is a classic that can stir some really happy feelings.
