The insufferable preachiness of "Thank God it's them instead of you," is coupled with this super wrongheaded description of all Africa as if it were a wasteland no one should have been attempting to live in, in the first place. And then it just tries to roll into this uplifting "Feed the World" chorus, like whaaa? Also, the catchiest part of the tune is that nonsequitar instrumental bit seemingly borrowed from Dr. Who! This is a bad song on many levels. Sorry, but in this American's opinion, We Are the World, while cheesy as hell, is a much better song, that at least manages to strike an appropriate tone throughout.
