@@OmarGueva Thanks for the reply. Turns out my inner CV had come out of position. When doing the other side I found it easier to loosen the axle nut so the knuckle can be pulled out without disturbing the CV joints.

Nope. After all engine mounts loosened then raise the engine.

That little Allen key opening is not very strong, it will round off easily.

missing the point,,, when you use impact gun the bolt start spinning- it rips the rubber,,,btw I use hex key on a 10 year old lexus and it works, of course you can use another wrench like you did but oe stabilizers even after 10 years have no problem with the allen key,,,the point is the spinning bolt = RIP to the rubber boot by design,,,

@@davidg.9942you are wrong, I’ve done thousands of them with impact never once have I had any issues with boots or bearing ripping apart. I don’t know where you pull this from but as a tech who’s been working on cars for 14 years you are fine using impacts. Don’t spread false information

If you use the pliers in the rubber boot you can torn them but if you clamp them on the metal base, you’re fine.

Some control arms have the ball joint pre-installed.

Knocking sound side to side while park can come from 1-tie rod ends, check them for play or the intermediate shaft in the steering column, it’s also coming on rhe RXs

@@OmarGueva was told to change my left side tie rod did Not! only visually inspected it looked fine but now know was wrong! will jack up the front end and see if there is play. With it..... again, Thank you Much!

@@OmarGueva Omar if you don't mind one last question if I discover it to be the intermediate shaft in the steering wheel? from on to ten! how difficult will it be to have it replaced or do I need to find me a good mechanic..

@@chuyocaca4153 I would say a 6-7. One thing to be careful is to lock the steering wheel so it doesn’t turn while is unattached to the steering rack, turning may damage the clock spring

Hello, yes the suspension need to be preloaded to tighten the control arm bushing bolt, not the ball joint.

@@OmarGueva how do you preload? jack under control arm or put tire on and slowly lower? Also, the forward control arm bolts are under the mounts so i'm assuming they don't need to be tightened under load. Thanks!

A vise might not be sufficient, maybea large heavy duty one. I recommend a 12 ton press. I did some research and only Moog and delphi makes a replacement rubber bushing for the control arm. I have had experience with the moog one and doesn't last long, maybe 4 years tops. OEM is 10 years but toyota doesnt sell it seperately. Up to you to decide what you want to do. Maybe mevotech supreme brand is good , never tried them

Rocking, swaying, unstable feeling drive. Usually associated with the rubber bushing getting old and ripped on these vehicles. Also check inner and outer tie rod ends that also produce similar symptoms.

Hi, if the control arm bushings are torn you might experience that the suspension moves when braking or a thump noise, if the ball joint is bad you will hear a rattle or clunk when going over bump

After tighten up the control arm on the passenger side, put the motor mounts and nuts back ,keep the nuts loose and loosen middle motor nuts without taken them off this way when jackup transmission is high enough to takeoff the motor mounts on driver side
