Out of curiosity- what is your primary higher end audio interface?
I don’t have a camera but I think I want to possibly get one to take some computing power of my computer so maybe I should invest
Hey I picked this up for 9 bucks at a thrift store is it obsolete?
forget the audio interface...WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SHIRT?!?!?

About to get one of these, my question is: do I get to separate all the 8 inputs to separate tracks or is it 2 inputs as L and R?
You can certainly separate them as 8 separate tracks. You can route each input to whichever track you want.
Awesome review. I like this mic but then again I’m a rookie. I don’t have a problem with my battery falling off I think that just might been a defective one on your end. Anyways thanks for the review very helpful especially with demonstrating on how to use the mount.
What a thorough review! Great job! So glad I stumbled upon your channel. Thank you.
Man, I can't believe you have so few subs - super professional and convinced me to take the plunge and order the Blue Yeti.. Great review bro, I'm defo subbing, keep fighting the good fight. 👍
Hello Im trying to stream my little rock band, Is this gear right for me ?
watching vice
Dude, you should be doing product review videos for a living. Your very good at . What happened. It takes time to get established.
I have this mic but not as happy with it. It seems to be more treble than balanced to the bass parts. I play guitar and I want to be able to capture the sounds of the high and low strings so not sure how this microphone would do with it for when recording videos. Thoughts anyone?
Thanks a lot for thia Super informative video. I am planning to buy a gaming laptop but afraid that cooling fan noise may be absorbed by this while recording courses. Do you have any inputs mike ?
omg stero sound so coool hghgfhvyfyuvbhjbjbtfuv im so exited hfgdhjokkjknnjgaghhh
Thank you! This video came in very handy today.
Thank you for the very thoughtful and comprehensive review. Definitely helping in my deliberations!
Couple Rode Podmics and be done with it already.
Thanks for comparing the preamps to something else in quality.
I've been researching reviews for this mic for like two hours and I couldn't find a decent one. When I gave up youtube recommended me your video! Your review is clear, informative and the audio is good (yes, in most reviews the audio is actually crap.... how can you review a microphone and not even bother uploading a decent audio..? 😅 ). Thank you!
Welcome to China made products once again.!
newcomer here. The phantom power CON... what's that in layman's terms? I understand what phantom power is but could I run mics that don't need it alongside one that would, hypothetically? For a small home studio, do I need phantom powered mics and/or are they generally preferable?
Here's my 2 cents. There are definitely some mics that can be damaged by the 48v phantom power, so you'd need to be very careful when you're using 2 mics at the same time when only 1 mic needs 48v. As you'll find, mics are all over the place when it comes to what's best for which purpose, but I'd say you'd almost certainly encounter this situation at some point. Condenser mics usually need 48v but wow, they're usually astonishing in what they pick up -- think crystal clear vocals or acoustic guitar. But if you're recording a loud 4x12 guitar cabinet, a tried-and-true Shure SM-57 won't disappoint. Most of the nicer mics should be fine and will ignore phantom power if it's not using it, but always make sure that switch is OFF when plugging in 2 mics. I encounter the same worry using one Audio Technica AT-2035 condenser that required 48v and a Shure SM-57 dynamic that didn't. To use them simultaneously, I made 100% sure the SM-57 would simply ignore the 48v power -- and of course it does. Hope that helps.
nice......thanks for the answer
Hi, great video dude! I have a question... 8 channels with phantom power cannot work at the same time??
3:21 :O
Solid review bruh
Which mic are you using at the beginning of the video??
too bad the idiots refuse to use USB 3.0 on these interfaces. WTF is the deal with that.
your mic led also not blink moment. is that battery problem?
i bought it one but battery power light doesnt work yet!!! is it normal?
It says 18 Inputs but I only count 8. Am I missing something?
Yes, the 10 inputs right next to the 6 xlr inputs at the back lol
Hey so my 18i20s dim switch keeps flicking on and off. Anybody have any ideas?
I am a student engineer as well as producer. I have been looking at upgrading some gear in my home studio just to improve the quality and it helps all the local artists I work with. After watching this, I for sure want to purchase this gem now. Thank you for a great in depth, quick to the point review. You didn’t bs around you made everything very clear! 👌🏻
Wow you remembered to test the mute. You rock subscribed!

Great info thanks.
Ive always used a PCI Express sound card, but I'd like to switch to this USB3 to save an express slot. Im worried about the latency of USB3 vs PCI-E. Is there a difference in latency, with respect to playing VST instruments and using multiple VST plugins at once in Pro Tools?
Sorry but for me the Behringer umc1820 is better sounding for under € 500,-
Nobody talking about that Snake Plissken shirt??????
Would it be a good idea if I am new to recording to purchase a used focusrite 2nd gen 18i20? Will it still work for years and have software available for it? The 2nd gen is for a good deal and having the additional mic inputs may be cool for recording demos. However, my intention was just to get a focusrite 3rd gen 18i8. So I guess my question is this. If I found a 18i20 2nd gen for $320 used or a 18i8 3rd gen for $399. Which one makes more sense?
Best budget 8 chanel interface: (Tascam us-16x08) By far the best interface I've used! $400!
Hey, I know this video has been out a while, but I just wanted to say that I wish all other microphone reviews were done the way you did it with the 3 comparisons at the end. I also appreciate the work that went into making this video, especially considering this is still a growing channel. You did a great job with the editing and energy and style. Keep up the good work and the great content. Good luck to you, you deserve more views. :)
I could listen to this guy all day and not get tired or annoyed. Great presenter and review.
How many octopre pres can connect to it?
THE MOST in depth, helpful and well done review ive found while trying to figure out if the 18i20 is right for me - thanks!
Make the soundcraft ui 24 the same work.?
