Gareth McLearnon directs the NFA Professional Flute Choir for Valerie Coleman's epic work "Elegy" for solo flute and flute ensemble - with the wonderful Alexa Still as guest flute soloist, and Lawrence Liggins as the reader of the Maya Angelou poem which inspired the work.

So great to hear the complete piece after practicing my own part. Very helpful director's comments too.
The James Bond theme… takes me back to 007 Goldeneye and my Nintendo 64.
Really enjoy how each parts’ rhythms fit together so nicely. And the extended technique, albeit brief, in the lower flute parts, very cool!
I especially love the voicing for each theme and how each section gets a moment to stand out! Something I personally struggle with in this piece (on the contra/bass side) is when the theme/tempo changes, but the same pitch sustains. Namely going into The Godfather and Gladiator. I just need to stay aware of those tempo changes.

I got into music because of movie music! LOVE at his arrangement!
Amazing playing on all the different flutes! Not lying, playing along with this has been my daily distressing technique since the video came out!
This is really going to help me play this live because my brain wants to listen and there is no time for that with this one! Now I have heard it enough that I will not be distracted!!!
