Ziggurat of Ur Vs. Mayan Temples: Ancient Wonders Compared!
The Mayan temples (circa 250-900 CE) and the Ziggurat of Ur (circa 2100 BCE), though from distinct cultures and eras, share notable similarities. Both feature a stepped architectural design, with the Ziggurat having multiple tiers and Mayan temples presenting pyramidal shapes. They served as significant religious centers-the Ziggurat dedicated to the moon god Nanna, while Mayan temples hosted rituals for various deities. Additionally, both structures symbolized power and cultural identity within their communities.

I was honored to be part of a short-documentary called "From Baghdad to Detroit: Four Poems" which included my poem "That Line." The poem was originally published by Acumen Poetry in London, England. The film project was led by Iraqi American poet Dunya Mikhail through a grant from Knight Foundation.

Great interview. Very informative. I am actually writing a book that I call "breh deanasha" I want Isho, my main character, to live in the right historical contest 2000 years ago. He travels to India and Tibet when he was young with a boat carrying product as part of the silk road commerce. I were in doubt about spices and tea from India as other sources say that the spices came from Iraq. Great to know about the export of tea from Kerala. And a good reminding about the term Syriac. You for sure know about Maloula in north Syria where they still talk Aramaic. Thank you and my best wishes to you both, Namou and Yawsep, from the Aeolian islands in Italy.
