CZ 457 LRP - SK Long Range groups at 100m
100m groups video with SK Long Range, following on from the last video using Norma Xtreme LR-22, for comparison.
SK Long Range is a 40gr lead projective, travelling at 1099 FPS, so a little lighter, and a little slower, but also a LOT cheaper per box (when you can get it).
The reactive dot on this target is 2 inches in diameter.
As usual the CZ 457 LRP is mounted in a MDT ACC Premier (Gen 1) chassis, topped with a Vortex Venom 5-25x56 MOA scope, and attached to the Accu-Tac SR5 G2 bipod.
Hope you like the new intro ...

I have my 22LR trainers in 455 and 457. CZ did also make an excellent .223 rifle with the bolt action 527. Mine is in a MDT chassis and excellent for shooting range out past 500 yards. I run Norma TAC 22 ammo as well in my 22LR trainers. Although it provides the best groups, ours average about .750 MOA (5 shot groups), we also like the consistency of the TAC ammo. I can call my shots with it up to 100 yards. We (wife and I) typically shoot 100 yard range with 10-15 mph cross winds. At end of each target we shoot for hole punch. Sometimes it's hard to tell on the 50 yard range - because the holes are on top of one another. Both guns shoot under .50 MOA on 50 yards. We shoot a lot and have a lot of fun with the accuracy of these CZ rifles. Over the past few years I've noticed an increase in these 22LR trainers at the range. Maybe its the lower cost in ammo, but we'd like to think it because they're a lot of fun to plink.
I love my 22LR Trainers @marw1920 ! I had the 527 as well, in the MTR stock, and when it worked, it was beautiful to shoot, but I had so many feeding issues I ended up selling it. Your comments on TAC-22 are interesting,, as I always seem to have flyers, so it might be the batch I have (more likely it's just me), so I'll do some more testing in future videos.
What rifle is it a bloody lot of feeding issues?
It’s a CZ457 LRP (Long Range Precision), and it’s not a huge fan of the lower priced Eley. It seems to prefer SK, which is very hard to get in Australia at the moment.
I don't know what I watch😂
Nice shooting, I found the ELEY Sports [Green Box] to be perfect in my 455 16" heavy barrel, like a competition round! easily getting 1 MOA at 50m, getting 1/2 inch groups consistently. Before that I was on SK Match, which were very nearly as good. All depends on the individual gun of course...
And it’s pretty nicely priced as well !
@@markfussell9313 Added bonus!!! I think I get it for £7 a box [50] here in Ireland, meanwhile my 7.62X54R eats £1.10 per round!
Nice shooting! What ammo are you running?
I think I was using GECO Rifle for this one @PT9mmWraith. Unfortunately it's not available in Australia at the moment.
@markfussell9313 I'm building a similar 457 right now but 20in barrel. Looks like geco doesn't export to US either.
Nice @PT9mmWraith. I've found each of my CZ's seem to like different ammo, but CCI Standard Velocity seems to work reasonably well with all of them, considering the price. If I need better accuracy, as opposed to just general plinking, I'll grab SK (when I can get it) or Eley, Norma's TAC-22 isn't bad either.
Did you paint it yourself? If so, do those areas come off for easier painting?
I did @BIGDEZUL, and it’s easy to take apart. The front rails are held on by three bolts, and the middle black section (with the MDT logo) is held on by two. From there you could paint the rear in one piece, but I undid all the bolts in the stock, and took that apart as well, so I ended up with two large rear pieces, and the two front rails for painting.
@@markfussell9313 that’s what I thought you did. Is that a rattle can job or cerakote?
@@BIGDEZUL Rust-oleum Forest Green rattle can …..
@@markfussell9313 wow. It looks great for rattle can! How’s it holding up? Did you use a primer or matte clear? Sorry for the questions!
@@BIGDEZUL I didn’t user a primer, as the texture of the XRS isn’t super smooth, so the matt finish stuck well. I think I put a matt clear coat over the top, but either way it’s held up well ! Stupidly, I repainted it in what I had hoped would be more like a FDE, but it’s too light, so I’ll be repainting it green again this weekend.

That very last group I was breathing then exhaling and relaxing with you 😳🤣🤣🤣
Thanks @ykdickybill. I really need to focus on taking my time, and breathing, when shooting groups .... more of this to come at longer distances.
@@markfussell9313 I shoot at a club in York, U.K. and we are just starting to organise PRS type shooting though it’s mainly bench rest , standing and prone. I love your rifle……after much research my ideal is what you have ie the 457 LRP with the match chamber and fluted barrel in the mdt acc premier chassis. Unfortunately, in the U.K. CZ don’t offer this. They offer it in a cheaper mdt chassis that is similar to yours but with a much shorter forend without the built in arca and with an AR15 style backend that they market as the ‘457 MDT’ which is not for me. I really want the ACC premier chassis…..££££££
Same here in Australia, @ykdickybill. I had to buy the LRP and the MDT ACC chassis separately. It's pricey, but it's worth it !

@@markfussell9313 Ah, yea seems right, but on the CZ Arms site it just says LRP Black. ok got it...but can you tell me though how far does it shoot accurate ?
@Mophonic, I've had it hitting 50cmx50cm thin steel targets at 500m ... a lot of that was probably luck, but it certainly has the ability to get there reasonable consistently.
After 200 rounds. "you shot to the right every time" 😂🤣😂🤣
I even adjusted the sights at one point, and made it even worse LOL
Nice ❤ How large is the steel? 45x45cm… Never mind :)
Thanks @clarson2916.
Thank you very much for the great video. What type of 457 are you using? Is it syntactic varmint or something with a math barrel like MTR?
Thanks @anatolipetrosyants2196. It's the first generation Pro Varmint Tactical, (purchased in 2019) which came with a wooden stock with the black textured paint. It's running the standard 16 inch heavy varmint barrel, and either sits in the MDT XRS chassis (like it is in this video), or the MDT LSS-RF Gen 2 chassis. For a shorty it shoots really well, and is probably my most fun rifle to shoot !
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it! I Like MDT chassis, but my headache is what to choose: 16 or 20 inch? 😂. I want to try tuners, but I read that for 16 inch, it will not produce any results. Did you try tuners on short barrels? Sorry for asking questions out of the video.
I haven't tried tuners on any of my barrels, @anatolipetrosyants2196, but if I was going to, it would be on the 20 inch, as I think (certainly not proven though) that the 16 inch might be a bit short and thick for it to have any effect. Those that I know have them (there are a couple at the range) are running the longer barrels.
Understood. I wonder if a 16-inch barrel can cover a distance of 150 meters as effectively as a 20-inch barrel. I'll continue my research. Thank you again for your help!
I'm heading to the range this weekend, @anatolipetrosyants2196, so I'll do a video on it, with both rifles using the same ammo, starting at 50m, then 100m, 150m and finally 200m, and see what results I get.
I see you’re also missing the little wood piece under the bolt handle. I had mine fly off the first time I brought my smle to the range. For me it was the metal part recoiling back in that part of stock and eventually breaking it. Solved by grinding off a bit of material from the piece itself, where it makes contact with the iron piece in front of it, and regluing with vinyl glue.
Thank for the tip, @MatteoSaverioGrasso, I'll pass that onto the owner, as I was just borrowing it.
I recently purchased a 1922 Lithgow number 1 mark 3* and to start with I set my target to 100 yards after I put 5 rounds into it then I moved the target to 200 yards and repeated that until I was happy to reliably hit the bullseye most of the time. I also have a number 4 mark 1/3 with a scope on it that can hit very close to the centre of the target at 500 yards and potentially out to 800 once I dial the settings in, now my eyes aren't what they used to be the front sight is a bit blurry the targets in focus after having cataract surgery so my no1 mark 3* it getting a scope on it soon cheers mate 🇦🇺
Very jealous @scottorgan2255 !!
What scope and mount are you using for the number 1? I’m in the same situation as you. Just can’t see the sights like I used to.
Your spotter should be a commentator for Sky Sports, What blabber. The shooter doesn’t need to know what he did wrong or where it lands, the spotter sees and knows this, the spotter should be telling the shooter the correction. A simple left X inches, up Y inches tells you what to do not what you did wrong for you work it out. He is supposed to be taking control and guiding you back on the target.
@johnclark1925, very valid feedback, and something I should have taken him through before we started. With the way I was shooting, I don't think it would have made much of a difference though.
Guys this range for this gun is long_range
It's pretty accurate at longer distances as well !
You need a new spotter who can actually give you some accurate info. Your current guy is useless.
Not all his fault, I could have been more specific before we started as to what I needed, but that being said, I was shooting that badly I don't think it would have made much of a difference to the result.
@@markfussell9313 ... fair comment.

Thanks L.V-Rider. Check out "The Road to 500" series if you're looking for long range shooting with that rifle.
Shooting at the level is always a challenge. People who run their mouth about how easy this is don't have a clue. Very nice shooting. You would think once you get a bulleye ,it would be easier to get the next one but every time you change the inclination of the barrel, everything changes and has to be reset with the rifle and your mind. This all earned every shot. Great video.
Thanks @phil4986, appreciate it.

You changed the muzzle break. Is this a suppressor?
Hi @stephendockray6698, I wish it was, but in Australia suppressors are not available for everyday shooters, so this is an enclosed muzzle brake (I think they're called a blast can in the US), which pushes the sound forward. It makes it a little quieter, but I just think it looks good on the short 16in barrel.
I know this is a CZ 457. I have an old Ruger 10/22 that I am looking to do something similar with. But damn everything about this gun is beautiful! What muzzle break and bipods are you running.
Hi @stephendockray6698 ... The bipod is my go to, being the Accu-Tac SR5 Gen2. It's the Pic Rail version, but as I'm running Arca rails, either as attachments or built in (on the ACC's) I'm using a Manael Pic to Arca adapter. For the muzzle brake, this is a Radial Muzzle Brake from Muzzle Brakes Australia.

Great video! I'm considering purchasing an MDT ACC chassis for my CZ 457 Synthetic. Can I ask what the barrel length is on yours?
Thank you ! The LRP has the standrd 20inch MTR fluted barrel. I've tried putting my 16inch CZ457 in the ACC, and the barrel is too short to make it past the end of the chassis. The MDT XRS chassis for the CZ457 works for any barrel length (I have a 16in in one), as does the MDT LSS-RF. Hope this helps !

What supressor are you using?
Hi @bluecollarsportsman613, unfortunately in Australia suppressors are not available for the everyday shooter, so on the front I have an enclosed muzzle brake, which directs the sound forward, making it a little quieter, but mainly its for looks, and to ensure the barrel is longer than the chassis it's in.

Hi @jamesforrest8191, I don't. I know the extended release would probably make life easier, but I don't find it that difficult to release the magazine using the standard release. If I was competing, and needed to do magazine changes under a time constraint, I would think about getting it.
What size targets ya using?
Hi @baileymoto, at 300m the target is 300mm, and at 350m that target is 350mm.
Nice work 👍👍
Thanks @22lr_plinking.
Hi Marcus, nice setup! I have a 457 too.. So what's your optic and ammo?
Hi @whysocurious7649, the scope is a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50, and the ammo was GECO Rifle.
@@markfussell9313 Thank you Marcus!
