I love the way these gems are cropping up. Each solo a different interpretation of his chordal tunes. Allan's mind boggling playing isn't over top. It's just that other players are just under the top. They don't explore & experiment as they should. I remember the first time I saw Allan in 1979 with nucleus. One of the best. You could tell he was reaching, grasping with incredible determination for something he could hear. No one else could imagine let alone play. Head & eyes rolling like he was in a trance. But genuine, not affection. Actually doing something so many so called improvisers & jazzers don't do. Reaching for something new each time & not clichés. As he once said. If you're playing something you've played before you're not improvising. Thank you one in a billion or perhaps one in ten billion genius Allan

Is it just me, or did the band not gel on Steppings Tones until Jan played those double note bass line notes to get them all back in sync? I know it's a crazy idea because they were too good for that kind of thing unless it was intentional, but it just sounds off until Jan comes back in the middle and straightens them out.

Hey i remember this track mof ( matter of fact) some years back someone had dropped the entire concert on YT and if I'm not mistaken Duke did Uncle Remus ( the track that he recorded with Zappa.

First circle version stuck in my head years ago , pm liked to do different versions of his tunes ,and this is one , lyle is stunning here

Rip Dear Lyle ,you are not and will not be forgotten. PMG music haa been beyond since 70s , glad to discover them 47 years ago. I salute all the jazz lovers who have been with pmg all these years.
