183k miles on my N54. I have enough oil leaking that it's hard to be sure where it's all coming from. Everything is old enough that it made sense to just do the valve cover, oil pan, and oil filter gaskets. Now it looks like the whole valve cover is a good thing to add to the part cover. I"m glad CZcams recommended this.

Hello! I have had this problem with my 2018 Corolla, while replacing the inner tie rod I let the car key in without making the car running which made my car battery go bad. After this and jumping the car my eps started acting up, I thought it was the inner tie rod procedure but I was having troubles cranking and starting the vehicle, I took it to autozone and the battery voltage was around 10.52V. Now with the new battery i am not getting the red steering wheel alert in my dashboard or suddenly getting stiff steering for seconds which is a road hazard. Great video!

Thanks for the comment. I was searching if I could run into issues with a weak battery and EPS. My problem is different as my alternator is shorted so I disconnected it. I figure I need the battery to last just long enough to get to the shop for replacement. I have a fresh battery installed so I think I can make it 10 miles without my voltage dropping as low as yours before I get there.

@@SirD31V1D After talking with the shop, they suggested I tow it in. That was probably a good idea than risk getting stranded and kill another good battery. My car was at home and it took about an hour to pick it up and drop it off 10 miles away at the shop. It would sucked to be stuck on the side of the road for an hour. I got my alternator replaced with a OEM remanufactured unit and everything seems back to normal. One note, is the slightly burn smell exactly I was smelling before with the old alternator. I suspect it's just some oils or the new alternator break in. After about a week, I can hardly smell anything.

Good video Andrew. I find that using the amp clamp limits the amount of time you can leave the scope connected while looking for a parasitic event. This of course is due to the life of the amp clamp battery. If you make up a test lead with a 100W 2 ohm resistor that has stackable banana jacks at each end, you have the ability to put this lead in series with the battery negative cable and ground. Now instead of a voltmeter, connect your scope leads to each of the banana jacks which would put the scope in parallel with the circuit. Using the MATH channel feature of the scope, set up a custom equation of the scope channel you are using divided by the value of the resistor. When the draw occurs, the voltage drop across the resistor divided by its value will give you the amperage value of the drain. (Ohm's law). This will allow you to set the time base of the scope to it's maximum setting without the possibility of the amp clamp going dead, ruining your test. You will have to have the scope plugged in however, as the scope or PC battery won't be up to the task on its own either.

my understanding is, it is supposed to weep a small amount of coolant regularly after a drive/heat cycle. plugging the hole on a good pump will cause the excess pressure to push the grease out of the water pump bearing/s causing early failure......if the pump is bad/pouring out the hole and you plug it...... shouldnt hurt anything?🤔
