How do you spool?
zhlédnutí 713Před 9 lety
This is one way of using a double ender I found on the Internet that I tried and liked to ensure I don't lose the spool. Once you get the hang of it and put the loops where they need to be it is easy.

    Questions: 1) how do you adjust the intermediate pressure? 2) does the 1st stage needs to be pressurized while re-assembling it?

    any tips on how to remove the hose from the second stage? my tusa regulator has a rubber covering over a swivel connection. It's really hard to pull it back and I don't want to damage it. Also when I pulled it back a little, I saw it was completely round, not a hexagonal nut that a wrench could loosen...

    • @PatrickKiel
      @PatrickKiel Před 7 lety

      Warm water makes rubber easier to work with. The nut should have some grooves for you to work with a normal wrench.

    • @chimyshark
      @chimyshark Před 7 lety

      I eventually was able to pull the rubber back far enough to expose the grooves, turned out it was round on 2 sides, and flat on 2 sides and there was a second one right next to it that was square-shaped. both were about an eight of an inch thick so I ended up having to go to the dive shop since you needed to position 2 paper-thin wrenches side-by-side. couldn't find thin wrenches at any hardware store -__-...

    my reg is constantly feeding a small amout of air, is this problem caused by one of the o-rings attached the the white parts? i have opened only the face cover and tightened the end caps but still the problem persists.

      you should take your reg to your local authorised service center.

    Hello and thank you for this video! It's very very helpful. Could you please download another video that would include assembling of the 2nd stage? thank you.

  • @pfakidomiti

    Thank you for the video, almost all of the balanced 2nd stages are more or less the same, the only difference being the way that the little pin is held on the BRS knob or the little orings on the shuttle valve - apeks and tigullio have one on some models... I am trying to say that the video doubles up as a guide for most barrel balanced 2nd stages... Thanks a lot Garth, if you can do more it would be appreciated, I will probably do some myself as I service and tune my regs alone too.

    i really hate this concept. untrained people building life support gear on the dining room table. making multiple assembly mistakes that will have any tech cringing, guessing at the parts, and calling them "thingers" and "objects" what could go wrong? please people take your gear into a qualified scuba equipment technician for service! it's only life support right?!

    • @ChisoraBoxingFan
      @ChisoraBoxingFan Před 9 lety

      eric d Point out the 5 worst mistakes. I think any tech diver concerned of his own gear, own safety, do service his/her own regs. Of course one needs to learn the tricks first.

    The next time I rebuild my regs I will video the process of adjusting them and ensuring they are working properly. Maybe a voice over as well? I can see there is a lot of interest in maintaining your own gear. The course from HOG is worth it if you have the time and are in a location that allows for taking the course. -Garth

      Garth McClune Here's another voice of appreciation for posting these. Would love for you to make that 2nd stage tuning video when you get the chance. If you wouldn't mind remaking the disassembly/reassembly and tuning videos with voice over, I'd be happy to send you a few sets of the HOG 2nd stage O-rings so you don't waste your own. PM or email me if you're interested. Just like Syed said, it's good of you to put these up as reference videos for those who have taken the class and only service their own regs once every couple years...

    Thanks for putting these up... you can find hundreds of videos on how to fix different systems of your car, but good lord is it hard to find info on basic reg maintenance. If you have a chance, would you mind making a video on how to tune your HOG reg once you have it assembled?

    When I first looked at his Hog reg, it seemed a lot harder to service. With your video I saw it's almost like the Cressi Ellipse Black Balanced but more sturdy with its metal parts! Going to tackle it now...

    Let me tell everyone a little more about this video.... It was the video I took on the first time I disassembled my regs so that if I forgot how to put them back together I could reference the video. I wasn't going for methodical. As you can see I was studying the reg as I was going along.
