Great videos showing how easy and straight forward the cables are to install.
I’m installing this railing for the first time and this video is great!!!
🙏❤
What is the max tension?
l am indresting, where meterial place in india
Beautiful! Well done!
I suspect that the California fire starters will consider this a protected zone 😏
Loved this design on the Feeney website! Great to see how it all went together. Looks simple enough for DIYers.
It is durable for long time.
I actually appreciated the computer animated video showing each step and screw. A lot of work to produce the video I imagine, but there it is now forever.
I met Tony many years ago, great guy just like his brother Andy. Great Video.
Looked like the post was splitting when you put the pocket screws in it
How does it work when your post is 3 inches from wall like most decks are
one option is to position your Quick-Connect® fittings at the other end of the run if there is more clearance there. If both ends have limited clearance, you would tension on the Threaded Terminal side. Take a look at this video: czcams.com/video/lJEefY81gkM/video.html
Nice work, but thats a very ugly railing system.
I don't get how it works. What keeps it from loosening back up after pulling on it?
our patented QuickConnect® locking jaws in the fitting prevent the cable from loosening. thanks for asking!
those cable railings will never pass inspection. Guard rails can not be constructed out of horizontal structures so as to avoid being climable by children.
Yep. Not a fan of the look either.
I would not recommend those cables on higher decks. I’ve repaired and adjusted many due to loosening. Dangerous.
Great video. That guy looks familiar. I think I beat him in a game of soccer tennis when he was still a pup.
Looks like shit, I'd rather have wood!
Cut the board the right length and you wouldn't have to worry about pulling it with a damn strap!!
A post attached at one end is most likely not going to be perfectly plumb. As the wood dries during building it can move as well. This method is a great tip and one I wished I had learned years back.
I guess this material doesn’t sag with time? I usually install the bottom rail support on edge to prevent sagging. Thanks for sharing!
Having links for the materials used (cables and connectors, etc) would be great. Good project!
Awesome job MLW Construction!!!! The cable rails are the way to go with that view. Feeney cables are the best.
thank you so much!!
Aren’t there supposed to be washers on the quick disconnects?
You’re right, there should be flat washers on both the Quick-Connect® and the nut washer sides. The flat washer's purpose is to provide more load bearing surface area, and minimize any creeping that might take place with tension on the cables, especially in soft wood frames. The video shows flat washers on the nut washer side, but not on the Quick-Connect® side. The builder is probably making a judgement call because the frame is built using Ipe wood, which is extremely hard. However, we do not recommend omitting this important piece of hardware. thank you!
Great video. Could you put your website URL in your video description?
done! thank you for watching.
what is the size of two wrenches used in this video please?
Thanks for the question! We are using 7/16” for the nut washer in the first example, and 3/8” for the Quick-Connect® fitting.
did you say the wood was ipe? how does that compare to other options, price and workability?
Expensive and very hard. Its not called Iron Wood for nothing.
