Agreed. The stock suspension is terrible off road. There's barely any rebound damping which makes it feel like you're riding on a pogo stick. The Ohlins shock and Andreani fork cartridges transform the first gen Tiger into an off-road weapon. It's 100% worth the investment.
Trade it... get the 800de.. the showa are fully adjustable and far superior than the WP.. its not just the shock.. the tiger's rake is road biased
Hey man ! My GF owns an GS500 too and she would like to change the tires for off road tires like yours. For me it's ok but everyone is like "You can't ride it on the road, you'll fall... blablabla" What do you think about it, you rode it on the road, what so ?

I never liked that rocky terrain when we rode, but obviously an MX bike isnt meant for that, Its prolly a lot better on a trail bike. Ur exclamation seemed to indicate u were into it.

Congratulations on getting the whole family on two wheels! I did the same, a decade ago when we would all ride up Mauna Kea together. Thank you again for posting about the Andreani upgrade to your Triumph. I did the same plus an Ohlins in the rear and it really transformed the bike.
If you cross at sheeps crossing the trail will take you all the way to I 17 at bloody basin road

stand up bend your knees and let the bike bounce all around under you and hang on. use compression to slow down, or coast in neutral while riding the rear brake, stay off the front break.

Yeah, the XR is much more capable than I am at this point. I've been testing its limits after a bunch of mods to make it into a light ADV bike.

it’s a reaction, i’ve learned to get better, but when i first started riding on the day that i actually went fast i saw a huge branch down on a trail that i didn’t see until i got to it, i grabbed way to much front break, i was okay but it could have been bad

I am the rider in this vid. My friend posted this to show me the crash after he recovered the bike and the gopro for me as I went to the ER. I see people asking. I was committed to the corner and bailed to not hit my friend on the KTM. I did shatter my wrist and this ended my riding career. But otherwise I am okay. I have plenty of vids of not crashing on my channel as well. Lol. Anyone that wants to use the vid is fine with me.
We really miss riding with you every weekend. This video is a good reminder that we're all just one nasty crash away from the end of our riding careers. Stay safe out there.
