I find the easier way to draw the head is to draw it as a box. It's basically the George Bridgeman method, but there's a really good gumroad course on it by reubenlara that's his website as well if you Google it. It should be on the front page of his website. I learned a lot and it's only 10 bucks. He also has a CZcams channel on here

Nice! I liked the demonstration on how to use the direction of the different sections of fur to indicate the solid 3-D body underneath. It's more than just shading. Great video, thanks!

A blending stump is not the same as a tortillon. A tortillon is made of rolled paper, and also comes in different sizes. A tissue wrapoed around a finger works very well for blending, also, especially for large areas.

My daily routine is 1.Lines and elipses - 10 mins 2. Cubes in perspective and rotated - 20 min 3. Gesture drawings

I still can't do perspective to the point I'm wondering if I have brain damage.

I'm also trying to learn to draw. I found michael hampton on youtube, and he has many videos that compliment his book. It helped me with understanding the 3d forms and planes. I hope this helps. Keep up the great work 😁

I’m learning fundamentals.. I took online courses and watched multiple Ty tutorials but everytime I will be following the tutorials and not try the principles by myself which just make me forget everything I learned..it’s frustrating:(.. your tips is good I will try it

I have just started learning art and I do the tonal Practice and lines, circles, curves gradient shading(tough) . But not objects like it’s mentioned in the video. After being terrified of drawing people for decades, my desire to paint my son (14) overcame the fear. I started learning using the Loomis method three days ago. I found most CZcams lessons a little frustrating, so I've just invested in the book. I'm very excited to begin this journey!

Hey, Just using the Loomis method while learning to draw a portrait makes the head plane instead of a 3D object. If you combine the Loomis method and The planes of the head, you will get a faster and better understanding of the head. In the beginning, learning with male reference makes it easy to see the planes of the face, and choosing to concentrate on a single angle and the face elements is a better way to improve quickly. 😁

From age 3 to my mid twenties I used to draw ALL OF THE TIME - and I now know that was due to my ADHD hyperfocus that wasn't diagnosed until recently 😄 I had forgotten how art can help us to process big emotions but your video reminded me of that. It reminded me of my own processing and that it is time to include art as a personal journal of my life again in order to process my ADHD / Hunter Type brain self-discovery among other things 😉 It is always difficult to lose a child no matter at what stage of the pregnancy or age of their life. Thank you for sharing your personal story to help others learn how to process their own grief and trauma through art ❤

I love learning about using the different numbers like H pencils and B pencils. I can use a lighter touch when sketching and let the pencil thicknesses do the work.

Trees for me are difficult to draw! But this reminds me to think of shapes and shadows. Great tips to follow as I practice drawing more trees!
