No question - I am a tap fanatic.
My grandmother hoofed her heels off since the late 30s, and my mother followed in her footsteps some twenty years later - both professional dancers. I therefore grew up surrounded by the loud, sometimes violent tap noise ruling our house, and it took many hours in rehearsal rooms and on production sets accompanying my mother to make me first estimate - and then love it.
Speaking of the "heydays of tap", this is no critizism of modern tapping. I perfectly understand modern music calls for its own artistic expression and new standards of tap technique are no longer compatible with jingle taps. Their rich, metallic sounds shaking many a stage nevertheless represents the joyful noise of my childhood, so I still love them.Same is true for the elegant, "ladylike" high heeled taps used by chorines and show performers - pure eye candy!
So join me to celebrate all the youngsters, showgirls and tap soloists that hoofed off their heels for us. Enjoy!

I always liked women dancers with shapely legs who begin the dance with a small skirt then midway through the dance they strip it off and put their shapely legs on display !

ah it is rare and very hard to master the epitomy of tap dance, but dude there are still people that do it today, kelsy rose young, tabitha kix, donna jameson, and thats just a few, there are like 30 clips and movies on youtube where there is some toe tapping or a few steps done, and there is even one guy that still casts the ladle style taps for the art form, goes by ballirinas blacksmith, if you like this form of dance you should check out his facebook by the same name its rare but it aint compleatly dead as an art form.
Thanks for your comment throwing more light on this subject. I would have never suspected that anybody still cares for toe-tap. This really is good news - I will check the tappers you mentioned and - if possible - feature them here.
@@harrypeterwebern9222 welcome and oh yeaa you better belive there are people that not only know of it and are interested in it, several would like to one day try it in dancing, one that is a friend and neighbors daughter that runs a school of dance said she would love to one day try it when she was working at the same place I was at the time about 4 years or so ago before she bought the school of dance, and she has a very heavy background in tap and jazz, more of the modern style as opposed to hoofing but she knew of it and said it would be cool to try. its not front and center but its far from dead, they even has a short clip of kelsy rose doing toe tap when she tried out for so you think you can dance but it was only about 2 seconds worth which is a shame as she is really good at it.

Wow indeed! I am always overwhelmed by the skills and sheer entertaining qualities of these performers. Tap was still alive in the fifties, and what´s best, the sound of these early appearances was recorded live! I´d really like to hear Powell or Miller do their stuff, but that´s nearly impossible - the "queens of tap" most of the time were dubbed by Hermes Pan or some other choreographer in the background. They did not even wore taps on her shoes, because these would have been useless and ruined the set. That´s what makes the "classical" musical productions kind of "sterile" - you see someone dancing but know that the sounds came from someone else.

ah that nerve tap thing she did in the middle sounding like a drum was really good, and she seemed to have a very graceful way of moving some just punish the floor but parts here she would to leaping turns and really gracefully lay out her leg, it was nice.

Nice, indeed! They had their own style in the late 40s - quite complicated routines with many tempo changes and special "show" elements thrown in (as the "nerve tap thing" you mentioned). These were the last years tap flourished.
