This year theme, METCONNEX Indonesia would like to showcase how mining and metals companies may contribute to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals agenda. Minerals and metals are vital to the global economy and will continue to provide the raw materials required for industrial operations and everyday life.
Global transitions to clean energy and electric cars will further accelerate the trend as renewable energy sources demand more metals than fossil fuel, yet extraction of these much-needed metals and minerals comes at a great cost, including harm to species and ecosystems.
It doesn't have to be that way, the minerals and metals business have the ability to help nations achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. They may, for example, enhance social cohesion, inclusion and economic success in low-income nations.
METCONNEX 2022 will dive deeper about this issue of how the whole mining industry should do more good than harm to our society while also showcasing how far Indonesia mining industry has become.
The first day panel of discussion will be discussing about sustainable gold processing plant operation, smart digitalization for sustainable mineral processing, selective chemical for higher efficiency and minimum environmental impact. The discussion about zero emission will be presented in day two, targeting in base metal production, responsible nickel matte production, and sustainable tin production operation.
