And here slip I - dragging one foot in the gutter -
In the midnight echo of the shop that sells cheap radios.

Well Done
Some liked it and some didn't. It wasn't their best selling album quite rightly. It is an almost dark, hard-progy record. The first two an side-A are good oppeners. The rest is mediocre and Anderson's voice sounds unnatural with the lyrics overstretched. In my opinion it cannot compete against the variety of "Stand Up".

Very underrated album and Ray Wilson is a very underrated singer
David and Roxanne. Her biological clock was ticking O.K.? And David kind of disappeared....enter Roxanne. My buddy is happy. Yeah! But I knew. There was something about it. "She's got her hooks in you." I played this song in the car and I think she hated me ever since. Had a baby shortly after. Uh-huh. Love the guitar. Almost Schenkeresque. He had a great bleeping tone.
I bought the cassette which was a rarity in those days; when it was released. This song was like a throw away....but damn I loved it. Ya, know what I'm talkin' about guys. And to replace Fish. Whoa. But this is a great album. Pretty damn dark. But this song and Hooks in You. Killer stuff. It's the kind of stuff that slips through the cracks but that stuff is the glue that holds us together.

Loved this song as a kid. Hate it when they depict the creature as a demon or devil. I never saw it that way. I always saw him as an animal like the one from "Where the Wild things are." Much more appropriate.

Trying to get into the newer Marillion albums as I kind of lost track of them after Radiation. There is some stuff I like here and there, but man Sounds is an actually all arround good album.

I remember loving this track being played at a gathering of friends and colleagues at the weekend who worked in the nhs in Cambridge in the early 90s, possibly a bit of weed being consumed as you do in in your youth, happy carefree days. 😊
It's a shame that it was initially a flop. Great album. I wasn't born then; otherwise I would've bought a copy back then.
What a masterpiece. Love this song-always have.
The tune is on the US version of Three Sides Live. Later reissues of this album have a different set of songs. I wish I could find the American version.
Always study conflicts from the past. It's the reason why we teach History. Then remember why we bother. To avoid it again. Why the heck do you think we teach R.E. or bother to get children to engage in oracy? Discussion and dialogue will always win the day. It's not brain science. I simply hope all of this IS going on in the background of this mess.
Gosh, they attack this tune like demons. Clearly an anti-war message but the Jewish messages are so interesting in the current climate. Fish was no stranger to Glasgow internecine conflict. Always better to talk than war.
Probably their best album, although Script is the game-changer, obviously. I can't thank this band enough. They made me for better or worst. Fish, I love your imagery. The band - melody is all. I will listen to this band forever and encourage others to do so.

Happy birthday to Marbles. I was 22 when this came out, and I bought the deluxe campaign edition. Oh to go back to those days...
