This was my first guitar that was unplayable due to wear and damage for 30 years. Nice to have it back in top playing condition again. I am playing through one Fender Super Champ XD on level 3 clean.

Awesome thanks. I really love bass guitar, but I have tendon issues on my hand, and I simply can't play bass the normal way. But if I play it on my lap, I can actually sustain that much better. It's hard to find tho.@@markmann57
That is a very lovely instrument right there and I hope you are very proud of yourself for it. I've just started working on an 8 string lap steel and I have at hand a really beautiful block of sapele that was given to me so like you, I decided to use that to make an acoustic style bridge for it. Great minds think alike, eh? Unfortunately the weather is pretty wet where I live right now and I have nowhere indoors where I can cut and sand. Plus, I've never done anything like this before so I'm just taking it slow and steady. So it may be a while before I have it up and running. Maybe in the future I'll try putting together a lap steel bass and hopefully it'll come out at least half as well as yours.
Oh thank you for the compliment. Pre planning is important for getting the shape and scale length correct. I think my next project will be a 6-string lap steel but I don't have a plank for the body. I like to use spare parts as much as I can to keep the cost down. Good luck on your build and let us see it when you're done.

do you have to replace it with tape to record something new? does it use cassete?
Thanks! It was a large kit so I used 6 mic’s on it…. 2 overhead, 2 out front, 1 on the snare and 1 on the kick, then I bounced down to 2 stereo tracks. Bass and keyboards were recorded direct and guitars were close mic’d. It’s too bad the camera I used to shoot this has such crappy sound because the recording sounds way better on a good system.

It has the same voice but much fuller and more 3d if that makes sense. I'm sure the raising of the strings and addition of a aluminum nut and brass-capped maple saddle all contributed to the increased tone and sustain.
That old Epi turned into an excellent lap-acoustic! The action looks like it's been adequately raised from original and it sounds great.
