Used my mobile phone during the day. Used my camera in the night hides as mobile phones not allowed due to light emitted from screen. You will have a brilliant time, it’s a first class reserve in all aspects from the game on show, the guides, accommodation & food.

I’m sure you would love it. At first the prices seem more expensive than other brands but you get what you pay for. First class food & the most caring staff on the seas plus it’s all inclusive. No additional payments for specialty restaurants, premium drinks & spirits, wi - fi & a few excursions are included. Lead passenger has to be 50yrs or above remaining passenger at least 40yrs. Therefore no children on board. If you decide to book, book direct with Saga not through a TA & contact me again before you do as if you give them my details you will get 10% off.

Pleased you enjoyed the video. Yes, the coats are yours to keep & they also provide crampons for your boots. When you book they should ask you what size you need. They usually carry plenty of spares so if it doesn’t fit you can exchange for a different size.

They will cater for what ever your needs are. There are always a few vegetarian options on the lunch & evening meals & plenty on the buffet for breakfast in the Grill. If you have any allergies the head chef meets with passengers on the morning of the first sea day to discuss & if needed design a specific menu for you. Initially the cost seems expensive but it is very good value. Having cruised with other companies we are now committed to Saga.

@@stephenmann9911Thank you Steven, it sounds like I wouldn't have any problem there. Yes, I gather that a lot of things are included in the price with Saga, like gratuities and travel insurance, which might make the price seem higher at first.

Definitely! Have been and going again on Saturday. If you don’t like what’s on the menu you can choose a separate menu for veggies and vegans

Absolutely, however, there were a number of passengers who were moaning / complaining that Saga had not delivered the cruise as advertised & were unhappy at not going into the Arctic Circle. I had quite a few discussions with disgruntled passengers & couldn’t believe their attitude. The welfare of everyone onboard has to be the Captain’s priority.

@@stephenmann9911 Well, I hope they had good travel insurance so they could file for a "Cruise not sailed as advertised" and see if they get any refunds for Captains discretion of passenger safety !! UGH, there are "Karen's" Everywhere !! booooo I thought 4 nights of lights were better than sailing all the way to the Arctic Circle to find them, meanwhile puking in the hallways due to severe storm motion sickness. Oh but then they could complain that the Captain put their lives in danger for sailing into a maelstrom storm on the North Sea !! ha ha ha ha

Thanks Trai, the trip was fabulous & I really enjoyed producing the video. It seems to have been well received.

I was flying Emirates which has a limit of 7kg for carry on so no good for all my equipment. However they do allow 2x 23kg in economy so I purchased one of those camera hard cases. Pelican is the leading brand but really expensive. I purchased the Vanguard 46 ( not the foam insert option but the divider option where you can partition the case to match your equipment) off Amazon when they had a good deal. It did the job great & has a special valve that senses the difference in air pressure when in the hold. It’s steel lined & weighs approximately 7kg empty. I also purchased some fragile stickers to stick on the outside. Watch the CZcams video by Jared Lloyd-How I pack my big lenses. You cannot place any lithium ion type batteries or power banks etc in the hold so they have to be in carry on. So those together with my laptop I put in a rucksack as my carry on.

No you need to have a South African adapter. I bought a pack of 3 off Amazon as I was charging phone, camera batteries & using laptop.

Yes we had at least 2 x3 hour blackouts per day but Zimanga have their own generators which kick-in automatically. So you lose Wi-Fi temporarily. Wi-Fi was good in the main lodge but dodgy in my room.

1) Lens - game drives used 200-500mm f5.6, as light fades used 70-200mm f2.8, & for landscape 24-120 f4 2) Lens for overnight hides 70-200 f2.8 for close ups & 16-80mm f2.8 3) If you look on Zimanga’s website under activities you will see their recommendations for lenses for each hide 4) I took 2 cameras, one full frame and 1 crop which is useful & means you’re not frantically switching lenses for when the game approach close to the jeep. It also meant I had a spare camera for video in the overnight hides where mobile phones are not allowed due to light they emit from the screens. Majority of video was taken on my mobile phone. 5) Clothing- recommend layers. Being winter it was cold first thing in the morning & as the game drives ended in the evening. 6) We were there for 7 days & it was a full on schedule. Left at 6am every morning & got back 10- 10:15ish for breakfast. Lunch at 1pm & off at 2pm for afternoon activity returning 6-6:30. Dinner at 7- 7:15. 7) Tipping- I tipped our guide every day & tipped the rest of the staff by putting cash in an envelope when checking out. You can also use credit card to tip & also settle your account. 8)I also took a travel tripod for the Astro photography. You don’t need a tripod for the hides as they are provided.
