I sold the helix and got the gx100 instead. much easier to use, sounds fantastic and lots of cash left. this one is going to stay

Probably late to the game, but I just bought a used WA412 and had to adjust the knobs. It seems like they can get pressed in, or made to be off center, and that can add some drag at certain points in the turn. I just took mine all the way off and re-centered them. They all work much smoother now.

What cymbals are you using? Im especially interested in the china on your right/our left, the one next to the floor toms. It's one of the best sounding chinas I have ever heard. Just has that classic sound. Also I would like to hear your subjective opinion on something. What's the difference between a 500$ kit from Mapex for example vs a 1000$ Tama kit? Like I get that some woods like birch or maple equal in a more expensive kit. But even the Tama Imperialstar is made entire out of poplar wood, which is also common in fairly cheap kits. So Im rather indecisive what new kit to get. Since most of the sound is determined by the heads & tuning anyways. And you can always stock up on better cymbals & sell the originals or whatever. That being said, I still will probably go for the more expensive Tama kit, since Im just a fanboy for that brand & their standard cymbals are bronze Meinl ones, which are a quality brand & I really don't like brass cymbals for the most part. They aren't as visually appealing & they don't really have a nice warm exhale breathing echo to them. They cut off way too quickly & are mostly suited for rehearsing in your studio only. A double ply head on the snare will help with ring and provide a bit more body.

DW really messed up a lot of things here. The crappy pillows that you stick on, to an acrylic shell!?! OK DW!! And the bass drum head, two non-ported heads???? Oh and the single ply heads go on the bottom of the toms. Are those heads even Remo USA's? Sucks that it sounds so crappy out the box. Hope you get it sorted. DW should re-imburse you. The snare needs an Evans HD-Dry or Remo PS4 coated.

The design series does not come custom. They are standard drum sizes. So your 18 is 16 16 is 14
