As far as the creases go (newbie here), would laying a towel over the canvas and then ironing it help it to lay flat? And then perhaps clip it to cardboard and then start painting? What brushes did you use? The ones with the kit? I'm nervous about ordering my 1st paint by number

Paint by numbers is the most special Olympic shit I ever seen. Imagine of being proud of something that micromanages where and what each color is, draws it for you, hell, even comes with the mixed paint to fit the detailing. Doesn't surprise me that gen Z is picking up on this, they are not known for lacking talent or motivation to succeed 🤣

I tried ironing with a damn towel on the back and it didn’t work. So I thought it would just have more character with a few lines here and there.

These brushes are really bad!!

I section it off into quadrants. It really helps by using Washi tape. If a miners runs over to another section I check if I need to pencil it in. It’s fun this way.

Is this an acrylic kit? Or oil paints? How do you thin out both kids of paint so that you have enough for the project?

I put a clip on my wall. And when I'm not painting, it's hung up on the clip. Mine have all been rolled up and had wrinkles, but they Seem to work there way out of the canvas just from being hung up.

I have just been dipping my brush in water then into the paint , especially because I like to outline the shape so I don’t get confused. But sometimes it gets thin and bleeds that way . I’d like to get some paint thinner but I’m not sure what to get

Would stretching the canvas on bars preventing the curling?

Helpful vid, but you needed to edit out like 75% of it. Was kind of hard to watch

i have just experimented using a long match cut to a point for the very small spaces .hold it between thumb and finger and dip it into the paint , enough to get a blob of paint just on the end and if the space is large enough place the blob of paint in the centre and spread it using the match turning the match as you get a build up of paint on the side of the match not in contact with the canvas ,.i found this gave me excellent control when spreading the paint and a very textured finish and better detail.

What size was your painting? 50x40?

Do you recommend starting with the darker paints first??

I thought I was the only one who would take paint from the lid first. Plus you look for other numbers to complete before changing colors like I do to! I will look around and be like “any other numbers better speak now or forever hold your peace”. And of course, I will find one straggler I missed a couple colors later. 😂

Laura can you advise me if it is OK to gesso a canvas that is already framed for PBN's? All the videos I have seen seem to have the canvas unframed. Sorry if this is a silly question but I am a complete beginner at this lovely hobby.

After buying seven paint by numbers each one came folded and its impossable to remove the crease s , since then i only purchse from companys that send them packed rolled on a tube = zero crease s , yes you pay more but the end result is better. I have found the made in CHINA under £10 gbp are folded because of postal costs . You takes your choice folks pay or suffer.

Its so exciting painting by numbers.,it's my stress reliever., i've alrdy finish 8 canvasses thanks for your tips., but for me i 've always start from bottom to top and pull up the background color at the end., but before start i took picture first of the design for reference incase that I miss some areas and forget what color number it is.😂

I find if I take colored Sharpies and dot all the numbers I am going to paint next I don't spend so much time hunting for them as some can be quite small and waste a lot of time searching. And your brush tends to dry somewhat

Thank you! I just started my first paint by numbers and I enjoyed your tips. I have a question, do you dip your brush in water before dipping it in paint ever? It looks like you don't in this video but I just wanted to know.

Actually I got two sets of oil-based paint markers for my paint by number sets. You can try several different very light colors and see which one takes care of those pesky lines and numbers the best. Bright yellow seems to work for me better than the light but maybe there's a better color for you or for your situation. You can also use the colored markers to sharpen up your lines they seem to match standard paint colors very well The only problem is there's not enough colors I have not been able to find a set with more than 36 colors. You could also get a set of fine line oil-based markers as well as metallic ones they can all make your padding stand out. I do paid by numbers but then I make them my own I will often change colors I don't like. I also bought a set of liquitex basic 48 tubes And I mix those with the cheaper paints in the sets just a pea size amount will do and it helps to allow the plant to flow smoother and with less streaking. Thanks for the video you're painting is lovely. Oh and I got my markers off of wish and temu any worked very fine

What do you do with the paint left when painting is finished, it seems wasteful to throw it away as some are full to top of pot but only a little is used and as different paint by number suppliers use different number paints they cant be used on other paintings
