I wish she would stop calling me ''daddy'' though. HA! Thanks to too many trees next to power lines we in lower Michigan often lose power after a storm, thus I bought a generator many years ago. Rain isn't a problem anymore. In case I ever decide to weld I ran 240 V. 60 a. to my shop. Most pro's only need 30 amps to weld. I still have not found a used welder for a reasonable price though. The place looks great kids! I'm surprised that you need to drain water from the pool though. I would think it would evaporate on the hot days. Do you own a chain saw yet? If you invest 40 to 80 thousand dollars to buy your own home, then that is less than you will have for travel and such in your retirement . Let's say the average rental is 500 a month, so that works out to 6k a year. In 5 years, it's 30k and 60k in ten years. Now keep in mind that the philippines is prone to natural disasters like earthquakes and typhoons that can wipe you out overnight. The philippines is also a developing country and can be prone to civil unrest or policy changes that can affect you negatively and could force you out of the philippines. Ownership benefits her more than you, and if she has a bad day, then you could end up out on your ass and have very little recourse. The cons outweigh the pros for me, but everyone is different, and every situation is different depending upon the people involved. Keeping the family at a distance and out of your personal business is the best way to have a happy life as many families will put pressure on your wife to get into your pockets so lots of communication and doing your homework is a good way to keep things together. Note : Don't overbuild and keep things cozy because not only is it cheaper to cool and maintain, but it keeps the squatters out of your life.

Philippines is still ok with the inflation and rising prices. I am a Seychellois it nothing to compare like here in the Seychelles. To live a simple Philippines life here you need around 1500 dollars a month. Thanks we do not have to pay for health and Education. Seychelles have many social benefits and extreme poverty is none existed here, but to live here it is extremely expensive and facilities and amenities are not like rhe Philippines. We have a small population of 100k people so it is easy for the government to manage the economy and corruptions is under control here. We have the highest GDP, Higest Human index development, strongest passport in Africa. A 2% unemployment rate, free health all level, free education, social benefits for all elderly and disabled people. Free public transport disable and elderly, social welfare for people earning less than minimum wage, free breakfast, lunch and transport for school children in public schools and school is compulsory from 4 to 15 years old. To give all this tax are high and costs of living is high and people complaining the government no good. There are also social housing programmes for less fortunate people. One bad thing when people get everything in society they become lazy, many social problems like hard drugs and alcohol. People do not want to do labour intensive work so we have a very high foreign workforce here. Our climate is the same as in Philippines but we do not have cyclone, earthquake and volcano. Think you buying a kilo of tomatoes at 500 pesos, a kilo of rice 200 pesos, one litter of bottle water 100 pesos, one 500ml can beer in a shop 250 pesos, 1 kg of prawns 2000 pesos, one kg of beef, pork chicken count all above 600 pesos this is how expensive is here. Rent nothings decent below 1000 dollars.

How much was your solar system? from start to finish, for someone who knows nothing about solar. It's helpful to know so if we think it's worth it. I did quick math... say spend 15K USD on it and say you live there for five years 15K USD = 882K Peso / 60 months = 14K peso per month then 10 years, half that and so on. Also buy a lot build a house how much was that? then do the same math...Or leave the 100K in the high interest-bearing account. But then you pay rent... hmmm Thanks

I have stopped buying can dog food. I purchased bags of chicken at WalMart cheaper. So I cook chicken and rice for my dogs. 10 lbs of chicken is $5.72, 13oz can of dog food is over a dollar.
