Not good. That is oil or gasoline of some kind. I hope someone gets it stopped before it gets to the Lake. Many fish will be killed or contaminated by that much chemical waste. While it is in the river, it will be easier to stop and collect. Once it hits the Lake they may as well just let it disperse. Finding the source would be a good idea, too. This world is filled with so many dangers to our environment and yet we keep on adding more and doing damage ourselves by illegal dumping. What kind of people do this? I don't get it.

My wife and I are doing this same trip OCT 1, 2011. I hope we see you there.

On May 25, 2011 the George W. Kuhn Retention Treatment Basin discharged approximately 1.6 billion gallons of combined sewage into the Red Run Drain. according to the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner.

I miss that river. I learned how to fish, hunt, swim, drink, smoke, cuss, fight, love and many other things near that river back in the early 70's. We lived in a mobile home subdivision near the old piano factory. Thanks for sharing.

I used to live right next to the Shiawassee River in Holly! I miss it, now I live in Florida.. boo hoo me and my dad always wanted to go do this.
