I've never played any flute, but people told me not to start with the bass flute, but this is really what I want to play. I love those low mellow sounds.
If you do start with a bass flute, remember that 'less is more' when it comes to air pressure to get those lowest notes out - it can be described as 'breathing' into the flute rather than blowing air.

Do these wetout less easily than the ones with a bird on them? I have the older model in G and it sounds differently within a minute or 2 playing. It seems to wetout way to quickly. What could be the reason for this? Another flute I have does not have this problem. Thanks in advance!
The difference between the Traditional style with fetish (bird/totem) and the Spirit style with the affixed flat plate is the size of the air passage they cover; on the Traditional there is a longer space from mouthpiece to fipple (sound hole) at about 3.5 inches, and on Spirit it is only 1 inch. It depends on the player and the local environment (mainly, humidity) for how fast moisture buildup may occur.

Beautiful sound, as someone who doesnt know much about flutes, im wondering if they can be played im different octaves?
Our flutes play a range of one octave plus three half-steps (semi-tones) in a chromatic scale.

How much is it?
You will see two listings on the following link that have slightly different prices: highspirits.com/collections/earthtone/flutes-in-the-key-of-c The only difference is that one has the engraving and an extra stone on the plate at the mouthpiece, and the other does not. Both are listed as Final Sale which simply means they are not eligible for our normal returns process.

I love the G flutes. They have that typical authentic sound you hear in most native music. The other ones are good too, but G is my favorite. Same with harmonica

j'ai découvert tardivement les flutes natives parce que vivant une situation extrêmement difficile dans mon pays qui s'enfonce dans la dictature.. il y a seulement 2 ans grâce à Jazzlyn Rose avec sa merveilleuse flute H.S. je poursuis ce rêve d'en avoir une identique un jour.. Odell est un magicien.. avec mes faibles moyens je fabrique aussi depuis de nombreuses flutes surtout en pvc après avoir testé le bambou.. je dois dire que pour du pvc j'ai poussé l'exercice le plus loin que l'on puisse expérimenter et le résultat bien qu'exeptionnel ne pourra pas être comparé avec une flute entièrement en bois surtout dans ce cèdre. (mes embouchures et totem sont dans cette essence car indispensable pour être assez correcte) Bravo et merci Maître Odell ✨ 🪶 🙏🏼🪶 ✨

a fun way to play! there are actually instruments called nose flutes that are intended to be used that way.

I’m assuming the numbers below are the seconds to play that note ?
The numbers below refer to the time signature which is 3/4. This means three (3) quarter notes (4) per measure. So when the number 1 is below a note that means it is a quarter note and takes up one of three beats in the measure. The number 2 is for half notes, which take up 2 beats in the measure. Where it has 1/2 are for eighth notes, so when two are next to each other they are twice as fast as quarter notes, together taking up one whole beat of the measure. If that is confusing, simply follow along with the melody and you will learn the rhythm and notes together.

I'm sorry if this sound like critics, I just can't find many sheets Note in G, so I must write my self, which takes time and than playing isn't enjoyable any more... 🙄 Tell me please, if anyone knows, where can I find normal Musical Notes in G key for NAF?
On page 23 (PDF page 31) of our instructional booklet, the chromatic charts for 5-hole and 6-hole configurations are available, which gives you fingering positions for available notes. You can download the booklet here: highspirits.com/pages/downloads-for-native-and-signature-flutes where it is titled Learn-to-Play Instructional Booklet - "Playing the Native Flute with Odell Borg" (click on the word 'ENGLISH'). Nakai tablature for Native American Style Flutes will be shown with a key signature of E-major (C♯-minor), though that is not necessarily the actual key of the music. This is because of the standard minor-pentatonic tuning of the Native Style flute, where the same melodies can be played with the same fingering combinations on any key of flute; so it can sound 'off' as far as matching the actual key of the music. It is ~25 inches long, and the holes have the same size and distance between them as the Condor Bass B
