did a 1st time repair on dryer, idler pulley wheel was squealing like a pig in heat, so open up the machine n swapped it out. there was a film of lint covering the entire inside/bottom compartment of the dryer, including a brushed motor. I am honestly surprised that it never caught fire. Will be opening the bottom compartment to clean the lint at least once a year or so from now on.

After 109 years of electric clothes dryers you would think a company could perfect the lint catcher...seems like a purposely designed defect.

But without a screen the birds nest in there blocking the vent more than the screen. Quite the conundrum especially when the vent requires a ladder to access it. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think you can get a backflow cover for that, it only opens when on use and closes when done so the bugs and rodents don't get in

our dryer vents at work. Don’t have a screen and the alternative is regularly taking birds out of them

DO have a screen unless you want birds and squirrels in there. But do also get up there every 4 months or so and clean it out.

Just leave it on and remember to clean the vent it's that simple.

No screen you get critters

Lifetime Tool makes a dryer vent for roofs but they should really go out the side.

Grenfell Tower tragedy was caused by lint build up. They tried to pass it off as a "faulty" dryer, but that was to avoid the accusation of victim shaming.

Don't have a 180° turn down like that Avoid sheet metal seams there (a proper end piece should be rolled to the outside - manufacturer fault). Also this is gonna sound goofy, but the ceramic coat stuff for paint leaves a pretty static-free and low friction surface helping prevent the initial deposits (which once lint deposits new lint just grabs to it). This vent seems like it's at the end of waaay too long a run with insufficient velocity (or it steps up - velocity reduction) if it's like this after one year.

That is a Maytag dryer. I have no idea if they made any for sears.

The more you use the machine the more frequently it needs all the pipework cleaned,same for refrigerator motors and radiators,aircon units they run cooler ,longer and so much cheaper.savings will pay the bills.
