men of war occupies a weird spot between company of heroes and more serious games like theatre of war and MAYYYYYYBE combat mission (an actual sim) if you stretch it , however the weakest part of every MOW game is the infantry , they havent changed that much since the very first title (soldiers heroes of ww2) , under player control they are more or less helpless and require intense macro in most but not all situations while the ai makes full use of the free movement toggle , at least they gave you the ability to spread them out in GOH to make a nice firiing line which is a nice general purpose formation instead of just the regular diamond-esque formaiton which makes them too dense and easily mown down by 1 mg

One cool neet detail that I didn't see you mention is that infantry will share supplies. example: If you add a medic to an infantry unit, they will share bandages and pretty much double bandage supply Infantry units will share ammo, if one rifleman runs out of ammo then another will share it to them. This makes it crucial for MG Ammo Bearers to stay alive as the MG Operator cannot hold a lot of ammo on his own

You should really give the "multiplayer" game modes with bots a try. You can play different periods of the war (early mid late), with different doctrines which all have specific units. It really changes up the experience.

Comparing it to toy soldiers is pretty accurate. That's exactly the feeling I get when playing GoH. Like playing with little green soldier figures and tanks out in the dirt

For me this is simply the best rts game I’ve spent 1000+ hrs on this game

my advice is to avoid the PVP like the plague but the campaign is easily the most fun i've ever had on a strategy game before. the skirmishes were also really fun too. great game also if you're wondering if the DLC is worth it or not, play the base game german campaign. if you liked it, then yes 100% the DLC is worth it. i own all of the DLC and i have almost 900 hours

Can't recommend Valor enough, the units and factions are amazingly well done.

men of war assault squad 2 is just a older cheaper (i think) version of this i have 285 hours in that game. i also love gates of hell

I also got the idea that this feel like playing green army men, lol. I do still take issue with the jank tho. I regularly have some complete BS happen, and it's often something towing related. The most extreme example: I ordered a tankette to tow a gun to the front for defense and after it almost made the trip it *disappeared* and reappeared at spawn together with the gun. I was shocked that this is even possible... I really want to love this game but I wish it wasn't such a janky bugfest. Also, as someone who played the CoH series quite a bit, both have a couple similarities with GoH (and MoW in general) like focus on positioning, similar unit types, destructive environment but I think that's about it. CoH has no inventory system and things like AT grenades are just abilities that certain troops have. Unit health is way more arcadey, and in CoH you have to tech up your base like in traditional RTS games. Also you have 3 different resources (manpower, munitions and fuel), as opposed to GoH that essentially only has manpower. Lastly, CoH is very PvP focused and it's way easier to get into than GoH, with tons of guides, replays and matchmaking.

Those slow motion scenes were awesome.

I've beaten all story missions and i own every dlc, this game is just a big sandbox with the dlcs, but the vanilla part is just as good, if you're wanting the best ww2 RTS game out there, call to arms ostfront is for you

This Game is a Awesome RTS, My favorite(I have over 70). A very Steep Learning curve. If You like RTS Games like "Company of Hero's", think Twice before Buying GoH, maybe think again. Nice Vid.

A tad late to be of use for you (not yet far enough to see if you discovered it) in your run. For the Abrams mission, you have Logi support that will drive to you if you get damaged (under radio commands 0-#-#, in the briefings under the extra section it lists if you have any supports) As for your gunner not firing the main armament (mavs and ffars for helo gunners) when you gave him a target. The gunner needs to be given a fire command (CTRL+Fire Button) to discharge the main armament. Secondary is at will. As for giving targets, section 2-#-# under radio commands

Oh my god, i remember when this came out... i really liked it Strange nobody else played or remembered it. Operation Flashpoint and Resistance are still my favourites for the atmosphere and higher stakes story Arma: Armed assault is STILL probably the weakest of the bunch. It has almost 0 story for it's missions. Arma II get's back in line, but still not as fun as OFP, and Arma III is the one that surpasses the OG OFP in it's entirety by missions.
