One of my new all time favourite. Came across it randomly I'm shocked no one's ever told me about it, so underrated talk about a hidden gem. Has inspired me outside of the film, so a huge thank you to the creators and actors.

Hoping to see this in a theatre near me. I first saw this on DVD in 2002. I was blown away! On top of the movie, I’ve listened to soundtrack many times since. Which is also fantastic!

I find it ironic that CZcams just removed some of my comments here repeating some of the things Olivia Colman's character wrote in her letters, except that, here, I was making the comments to those saying racist things. I was punished for freedom of speech, but CZcams's perfectly alright with oppression of colour in FICTION. Nothing's changed.

Brilliant film. The audience applauded at the end. It was great fun!

Good little movie. Not too serious, good natured. The forced diversity casting didn't make much sense though? The feminism angle was realistically done, each woman dealing with misogyny in different environments, the referencing of the Suffragette Movement coinciding with the plot... but having an Asian female copper and a black judge and not even hinting at the racism of the times made it very forced, tick box casting. You've got a court scene with arrogant, condescending male solicitors, belittling the females yet being fine with a black judge... if you're adding a historical context to the plot, don't half arse it. Hollywood really has a problem right now with the diversity quota needing to be met. It's all over the place.

Fucking hilarious; slap the knees, laugh out loud. Also, profound; hard task to combine the two. Some commenters seem to struggle with the accuracy of the film; It is BASED upon an historical event, therefore, it is historical fiction. It nails the second class status of women. Women; if you aren't offended by colourful language, gather your friends and enjoy this movie. Men, if you aren't offended by colourful language, go with some women friends; laugh and learn anout how the patriarchy continues to dominate women. Excellent acting by some brilliant actors.

Iranians live all over the world. Haven’t seen this film yet but yes it’s clearly a version of Persian American life and reality - it’s not a film about Iranian life in Iran. Kinda obvious not sure how that’s not abundantly clear.
