California Tohee and a Red Shouldered Hawk shot at Effie Yeaw Nature Center in Sacramento, CA. Faint music was playing in the distance and in the direction of the California tohee. Tree Swallow and House Wren

Shot this on a slightly overcast day with intermittant sunlight at Cosumnes River Preserve. The Tree Swallows were buzzing all around and even dive bombing me, but rather than try and get them in flight I stayed focused on a couple signs that they were using to perch on. I heard the House Wren singing on the way back to the car so I grab a shot of it. 2024 Sony FX3 Sony 200-600mm

We had House Wren Birds nesting and breeding in a flowerpot in the wardrobe. This is now the 2nd brood in a year. Luckily the young animals are very safe!

What was the problem? Put the cable in the top handle and to on.
I live less than 10 minutes from Wm. Pond and know the area that you have described well. I am there several times each week with a camera and will continue my search. It's a great place for bird and nature photography.

I ran across another photographer at William Pond who showed me some photos that she got of an oriole in the area. I'll keep looking but so far have not been able to find it.
I've seen the Oriole twice at WB Pond. From the platform that overlooks the pond, the main trail goes east. There's an offshoot trail that then takes you towards the American River south of the pedestrian bridge where there are some small rocky rapids. I saw it in that area. I used Merlin to identify the calls and saw it pop up. There's also a nest hanging in one of the trees.

Nice footage John. This seemed to be a mostly verbal dispute. Most of the time they are all honk and no bite, but I have seen these guys in some pretty heavy physical fights when their nesting territory is challenged. Wondering if the hawk had an eye injury or if it just had one eye closed?
Thanks! Not long after I shot this the two males got into it, but it didn't last long. Not sure about that hawks one eye. I was wondering the same thing.

Thanks! Staten Island is an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, northwest of Stockton and southwest of Sacramento. The land is owned by the Nature Conservatory.
@@filbilly Do you need to pay to visit? I heard the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve requires paid permit.
@@QVL75No, you park where you can. It's a public road. There's also Desmond Road near Cosumnes River Preserve and the Preserve, but I think Staten Island Rd is best around sunrise and sunset. I haven't visited Woodbridge yet, but I think they might require a land use permit.

@@QVL75If you're on Staten Island Rd. go past the grainy on the right and keep driving south till you see water on the left. The Cranes are in the flooded fields sometimes with geese. Good luck. I hope you get to see them before they leave
