I like this album, and still occasionally listen to it. I always thought the "80's sound" was deliberate - an attempt to resemble a contemporary radio broadcast.

I’ll never forget the entire Corridor around the arena was filled with passed out deadheads. But I thought it was so cool that there was a miniature PA system just for them in the corridor. But the sound was pretty muddy watching the band and we ended up behind the band up in tier B, trying to figure out what was going on. The best part was the double drum solo. The only time Jerry moved, was when he raised his arm at the end of touch of Grey, as he sang we will get by. I remember thinking that was pretty lame. I had no idea how unhealthy he was, and I wish somebody could’ve helped him sooner. 😢

I think I was at this show. Or another one during a multi-night stand. Will never forget the Rockin Pneumonia, and Butterfield being blown away when he was walking out to the stage.
