How do you remove the security clips?

Everytime I see these all I can think is how many times a store I worked for told us “ these are soaked in mouse urine. Toss them immediately”. “ these items are exposed to bird flu animals. Bag and discard immediately” Anything ok and safe we’d just mark down. Anything clothes we would put outside on the phone pole for homeless people to take. Just be very careful.
