Hawaii, an archipelago located in the heart of the North Pacific, is like a string of shining pearls, dotted about 3,700 kilometers away from the mainland of the United States. It is woven together by 132 islands, of which 8 are the most dazzling, namely Hawaii Island, Maui Island, Kahoolawe Island, Lanai Island, Molokai Island, Oahu Island, Kauai Island and Niihau Island. The total area of this archipelago is about 16,638 square kilometers, and it is home to about 1.44 million hospitable residents (2023). The capital, Honolulu, is located in the southeast of Oahu Island. It is both the heart of Hawaii and the gateway to this tropical paradise.
