This was such a wonderful and thorough take on Stationery Fest! I connected with so many of your points. It was such a memorable and amazing event, even though I was very anxious with all the unknowns and being a traveler from CA. I definitely went over budget, glad I signed up for a workshop but regretted not signing up for more! And, I made a new friend while waiting in line... it was so nice to check in with him throughout the 3 days even though we weren't there at the same time the last two days. And, as you mentioned, having the shared love for stationery made it so much easier to start convos with strangers and people next to me. I learned a lot from just random chats about what other people were buying (fountain pens, custom nibs, etc.). I hope they have another one next year!

Re fountain pens: pilot tends to send both a cartridge and a converter with each pen purchase, so they are also a good first pen brand. If someone is looking for something smaller than the TWSBI Eco, I have the Pilot Prera and really like it. And as a bonus, it's a popular one to convert to eyedropper fill.

I just received my Midori Hibino for 2025 and it is going to be so hard to wait to start writing in it 🙂 One of the reasons I got it, is that I have gone down the fountain pen rabbit hole LOL! I love my TC ballpoint pen! I fill it with cut down Pilot Hi Tec C Coleto refills. Edit to add: thank you for sharing! It seems so fun!

Hello again, @9:14 in the video you say that the tombow fude brush pen dual-tip black/gray is oil based. I have this brush pen and love it too. The pen is pigment based, water based and waterproof. I would love to hear more about how you use it on shiny surfaces. Always happy to get more leverage from my supplies. I’ll check your videos to see if you have already done a video on your use of this brush pen. Thank you I enjoyed seeing all of the supplies you took along to SF.

Love your approach to sharing your experience. I attended on Thursday. I brought cash to the event and regrettably learned during the event that some of the vendors that I was excited to shop with were not accepting cash. I will always have a soft spot for the lovely man and woman at the Kakimori booth because they allowed me to purchase with cash even though they were not accepting it. The pace of your video is lovely. New subscriber. Did you decide on an ink for your Kaweco DIY? I made this DIY during Stationery Fest. I ❤ the color. I did not know in advance that Kaweco DIY was inside Yoseka. I was expecting Kaweco pens and pencils to be available inside the fest. Planned to purchase a clutch pencil, but was happy to get the DIY in the store. Back to the ink - I’m leaning towards Robert Oster Napa. Thanks again for sharing.

I carried a very little amount of stationery items in my purse because I figured that I would be walking around a lot, and that is exactly what happened. 😅 I loved that my bag wasn't heavy, especially because I had to wait on the line for over an hour. A good pen for people who tend to write fast but small is the pilot high tec c. There is lots of ink, no bleeding or smudges.

Which ink pads do you recommend with the stamps ? It’s hard to find ones that don’t bleed. I like the little stamps you showed they’re so cute.

This was so informative! Subbed! Do you have any recommendations for archival-quality journaling supplies? Also, I'd love to hear about ways to make journaling more eco-sustainable. I notice there are so many stationary supplies that contain single-use plastics: single-use pens, plastic wrappers, PET stickers and tapes, etc.

Which Hobonichi or Midori journal/planner is that?

Do your fountain pens bleed through your pages? I used to love Leuchtturms but when I got into fountain pens I got worried they wouldn’t be compatible with the notebook anymore. I had an old one lying around and I tested my fountain pens on a random page and they did bleed a bit but I’m not sure if it’s because the book I had was from 2017 so the pages are more fragile. If it does bleed for you, how do you deal with it?

If you like you’re like me, hate a gel pen bc they smudge (or you’re left handed), but like a fine tip, Pilot has a line called Coleto, and they’re refillable rollerbal multipens! You can get them in a bajillion colors, they’re refillable and they come in .4 to .7 (the finer ones are more popular). I even heard you can put other rollerball brand refills in them. I like to be a little more colorful, and it’s cheaper than having fountain pens like I did when I first started

I love transfer stickers so much, we call them Rub Ons in the UK :) Also love that third washi tape, so cute! x
