    It was actually Iron Springs on March 24th, 1882. It's now called Mescal Springs. I really don't think he killed Bill. Earp was known to lie when the truth sounded better.

      Many researchers have debated whether this event happened in Iron Springs or Cottonwood springs, though many sources lean towards Cottonwood springs, it possibly could have been in the Iron Springs location. But none the less it happened in the Whetstone Mountains. Thank you for the comment.
