makes me fall asleep, it looks more like dance music from the 16/17 century when the farmers simply duplicated the French music and dances performed by the gentry. From 1648 on the Czechs were under foreign rule and almost all the landowners and aristocrats were from Western and Southern Europe. Kind of similar to what happened to the Confederation after the Civil War, alot of property got new northern and overseas owners. Watch HRZDA if you are into czech/slovak folk music

The Czech and Moravian nations were always west-oriented, taking their cultural influences from not only the surrounding nations but also from France and Italy in particular and thus were and are much more international than all other slavic nations.

Have you noticed that 1306 to 1307 was ruling Czech kingdom Rudolf von Habsburg? There was also Polish dynasty ruling for some time. In fact Sámo that ruled 624 to 659 was of French origin.

OLD BAY Thank you Old Bay, these dancers are from Czech Republic. They were visiting in Dozinky Festival in New Prague, Minnesota in 2012 and were gracious to perform this dance and some others. They do have a dance company and were instumental in providing a dance camp in Czech Republic and teaching a local New Prague couple many authentic dance steps. The local couple, Deb and Arnie Ziskovsy, have a childrens dance group called "Domácí Czech Folk Dancers". You can follow the on Facebook: Domácí Czech Folk Dancers.

hanickova I would love to catch a festival like this. I made one in Baltimore Md., being from Cambridge of the Eastern Shore of the state. Being of Czech heritage from my fathers side( Holmolka Jira )surnames, I have a fascination with Czech culture, as well as history. From Princess Libuse and Premysl, to Wenceslas. Polka to pork sauerkraut and potato dumplings, David Cerny to Alphonse Mucha. I`m still learning all I can. If I can ever afford to, I would love to walk the Charles Bridge on up the hill to the castle, see the astronomical clock, collect some bohemian glass, and breath Czech life as real as it gets....
