Wooowwww... absolutely nailed it! I am very new to all of this, and am waiting on my samples to arrive, but I think I will be able to follow this step-by-step easily! Definitely following. Thank you so much! 🙏

I have viewed hundreds of product photography videos. Many offered solid instruction, some were just plain bad. This video is by far the most professional, detailed, and clear instruction I have seen. However, depending on how much post-editing you choose to do, the work can be quite tedious. Of course savings masks and other parts of the editing process will help save time when working with batches and for future work. Since this video was created five (5) years ago I have to wonder if this level of work is only necessary for things such as catalog work. Hard to imagine this level would be needed for a jewelry shot on something like Etsy.🔘

Although I like your methods for explaining doing 244 photos for a rotation and done manually to keep the turntable cost down, the end result was MOV, and then every 10 frame for interactive software. I realize this video is done 6 years ago and technology has improved. It might be easier and faster to just buy a 360 electric turntable for $150 which is what I have found on Amazon, which either rotates continuously, or you can set the remote to stop at angles of either 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 or 1/64 of a full rotation. With a remote on a camera and remote on turntable, the "interactive method" shots can be 16 photos or 32 or 64 photos for an interactive image and full rotation (if the file is Interactive by user). Regarding the MOV version file, would it not simply be easier to use the electric turntable set to continuous rotate and the camera set to either 60fps or 120 fps and slow down speed of the rotation in software (by 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 speed) in a video program to get a "similar 244 frame look" as an MOV video and let the turntable rotate 2 or 3 times continuously. Or would your opinion be the image quality would not be high enough? (However I doubt it.) With 60fps is chosen in video mode, most cameras have 4K in 2023, which can be resized to 1080 HD on export after cropping in if needed. Or many cameras today have 120fps in 1090x1920 HD which can be slowed down 4x if needed. Framing should be perfect is not cropping later. Bright LED lights would be needed for high F-stop in video to achieve f8 or f11. The reason I say this, is that I had a client who wanted 14 items for 360 rotation and doing 244 photos each product manually would make it a long process and too costly for my client based on the time and labour. Again your video is 6 years old and methods change to get the results, so I expect you may do it differently now.

Have you tried building this from tracing paper and some kind of plaque transparent? That way you'd be able to shoot directly throw the cone. This is also a great way! Both this and Karl Taylors light cone are great ways and I can't wait to test them out. Great straight to the point video : )

Nice video with good instructions, but when you shoot hundreds of shoots you cant lay this time on each sunglasses, you want it as good as it gets from the camera and lightsetup. Do you lay this time even if you have hundreds of sunglasses?

I sell on a variety of e-commerce platforms. I didn't realize how different jewelry photography is from regular products! The paper tube hack is amazing ( although I'm using a phone, so I'm still struggling with closeups). Definitely time to invest in a good camera and lenses! Thank you.

Let’s address the Elephant in the room. Looks like this is for a company producing large amounts of that inexpensive jewellery, meaning, this is something like car photography for car industry e.g. VW, BMW etc. where you can charge very high prices. How much can you charge here? I’m asking because I don’t want to offer too low and for that destroy the market by far too low prices. I see this effect with wedding photography in Switzerland. Couples booking newcomers having no clue charging half of the normal price and are then disappointed with the result.
