For many, the Gardens at Doddington are just as spectacular as the Hall itself. Remaining faithful to the original Elizabethan layout, mellow walls provide the framework for the formal East Front and West Gardens. Beyond the West Gardens begin the lovingly restored Wild Gardens. Over the generations, most recently by Antony and Victoria Jarvis and Claire and James Birch, the gardens at Doddington have been restored, cared for, nurtured and developed to their fullest potential.
A visit to Doddington offers a unique insight into family life through the ages and the challenges of looking after such an estate in the 21st century.

Miranda Creswell - Waterlines - Grain Store at Doddington Hall
Miranda Creswell is currently Artist in Resident for the Institute of Archaeology, University of Oxford. She has previously held art residencies and exhibitions at Horatio’s Garden, Nuffield Orthopedic Centre, Harris Manchester College, Oxford and Le CentQuatre-Paris.
These three oil paintings were commissioned by the estate in 2023 to mark our intention to allow nature to recover as part of our ambitious 100 year ‘Wilder Doddington’ project.
The main focus of the work is of an imagined future landscape at Doddington with diverse wildlife and wetlands.

Ranger Heather popped some wildlife cameras in our new pig area (where our Mangalitza pigs are settling in while we find out more about them).
