That was ENTIRELY preventable. Elevators are supposed to have a door key that will allow you to open the outer down and a switch to open the inner door afterward. Maintenance didn't even try to open the door. If they opened the door, they could have gotten him out or got him the drugs to help till the power returned. If I were his family I would have sued the hospital.
