Hi I'm Mark Garner a local Estate Agent in Telford, Walsall and surrounding the areas.
My property journey started in 2004 when I became a sales negotiator for one of the UK's biggest house builders selling new build properties, after a few years I ended up managing their in house estate agency, selling the secondhand properties they bought in as part exchange.
I took a break from the property industry for a few years to set up and run my own driving school business, which has been very rewarding.
However, I'm back selling houses again with EXP UK 😁
Estate Agents have acquired a bad reputation over the years for many reasons and my aim with this channel is to start and turn that reputation around, well at least for myself.
If you're looking for honest tips and advice when it comes to buying or selling a property, subscribe to the channel.
If you have any questions, you can email me on mark.garner@exp.uk.com and I will do my best to help you out.

been here 40 years council homes are full of people who are not nice and the council will do nothing to change this same with the police, the town park is a dump compared to much better parks in other towns its just a field, kids play area pond and alice in wonderland and small zoo, nothing great. buses are dirty, streets are dirty, asda is dirty, most shops are too expensive wellington market is very poor, and I would not go to any pubs at night, its not a safe place to be. sorry but your new to this place try updating this in a few years.
They ruined this part of Shropshire. It's a right shi-te hole now
There is good and bad parts in all areas, but I have to disagree about the park area and the town itself. I lived in a great town called Walsall and have watched its decline over the last 10-15 years. Having come from there, Telford is a massive improvement. There are a lot worse places to live than Telford I’m afraid.
theres 11 year waiting list for council homes
I think you are 3 doors down from me! I totally agree with your comments made in this video. I’m also from outside of Telford!
Thanks for commenting, make sure to say hello next time you see me 😁
Hi , I am considering moving to Telford soon, just wandering if it is multicultural? As my son is mixed race and I would hate for him to be bullied isolated in school etc.. because of his race? Is Telford a racist place ? Does it have many people from different backgrounds ?
Sorry for the late reply but to answer your question, there are people from all walks of life here. Maybe not as many as some of the bigger cities and towns but Telford is not a massive place. As for what the schools would be like for him, it's hard to say as I don't have any experience with them as my daughter left school 10 years ago before i moved here.
From Walsall it's definitely a better move 😂
My thoughts exactly.
“Was we”?!
I live here. Can confirm if you like nature and you like long walks. This would be a perfect place to move to.
Thank you for the information. May I know about schools in Telford.
My late wife lived in Lawley village before all the new developments . I remember when it was all lovely fields with cows and sheep grazing.
You forgot Wellington railway station which is actually bigger than Oakengates.

No mention of Telford grooming gang's.
Grooming gangs in every town. Not just Telford.
Not as cheap as brum for takeaways. Takeaways expensive here and close early. Only a 24hr maccys is available lol
I loved growing up here. It's changed a lot since I was a kid in early 90's, the town feels like it's getting meat on the bones, filling out a bit (which in the case of a new town, is a good thing) and maturing as a place. The growth over the last 10 years has seemingly brought relative prosperity, and Telford has slowly been climbing the various city index tables and it really does look like it has a good future. Wellington has really improved over the last few years really great to see that transformation. A cutural heart is really what was missing back in the early naughties. If you like walking you're going to find so many unexpected things dotted around the place. There's lots of evidence of old industrial works buried in the woodlands all over the town, along with some pretty cool concrete structures which came with the estabishment of the new town, most of which can't be found by looking at a map. The thing I don't like is the monolithic slab of the shopping center, or to be more accurate, its corporate ownership. There is no business community around the town center as there is in Shrewsbury for example. But most importanty, the town centre has essentially one half-assed investor, instead of multiple competitors striving to make the most out of their plot of land, as it is in every other town in the uk. I hope that the council can continue to reduce the favourability of the shopping center. It's great to see you so happy about the place and I wish you all the best.
Hi and thanks for taking the time to give your point of view on the Telford area. We absolutely love here and have no regrets moving.
Thank you for sharing
Just recommended to my son in low, he will call you soon😊
Great, thanks for that. Is he looking to sell or buy?
Thank you for sharing, my daughter will move to stafford..can’t believe it is cost living much cheaper than Gloucestershire 😮
Hi Mark, we’re planning to move to Telford during the summer. We’re living in Surrey and we’re selling our flat. Which areas of Telford that would be suitable for a family of 4?
Randlay, priorslee, iron bridge, aqueduct, madeley,
Sorry for the late reply, it really depends on your budget. There are quite a few nice areas around the town centre, I currently live in Lawley which was a massive 15 years new build project thats got 2-3 years build left on it. Feel free to give me a call on 07789647226 if you wanted to have a more private chat.
I wouldn’t suggest randley, aqueduct, madeley area.. that’s the bad areas.. Go for Priorslee, Apley, Muxton, Admaston, Horton or Bratton
@@Jattyaaa we just bought a house in Wellington 😊
Is that woodside new estate ?
No, this video was shot in Lawley.
Plenty of new builds ,2 by me
Bromford housing 2 bed 600
Its lovely in Telford Im from Shawbirch ❤
I moved from London to Telford a few years ago , the cost was one reason Acess to GPs is just as bad. Renting is obviously cheaper, however public transport in Telford is atrocious, and sadly all new developments are being built on entirely car led design ., leading to car dependency. That’s not going to improve without massive local and central government change
Two very good points there, the local council certainly need to improve in both these areas.
Loss of history The White Lion a lovely 400 year old pub demolished, other pubs closed down, the Clifton cinema that was destroyed. Everything revolving around the over developed Town Centre
@@mark_garner Thanks I have an interest in urban design, so always look to see what different areas are doing
I've lived in telford my whole life I know alot of people my dad's family are from Ironbridge yes there is some crime ect but over all telford has alot of good people good places to go beautiful walks I feel lucky to live in telford we have all we need ❤️
Agreed, its a beautiful place to live.
I live in woodside they see it is crime ridden but I love it here my development is opposite a nature reserve. People have showed me love. My neighbours also moved from dudley, wolves, walsal as well. Soo glad I moved here. Need to meet someone to start a family now then my life will be complete. The only thing I say you kind of need to be driving to get from one end of town to another
I wouldn’t move to Telford if I was given a free house , it’s a shit hole
Hello @Mark How many lakes in Telford? And how many population ?
There are dozens of Lakes, Pools. Population almost 190000 www.ons.gov.uk/visualisations/censusareachanges/E06000020/
Hi @mycleanereg5867, The total population at the last count according to the council website was just over 185k as for the number of lakes, the honest answer is i don't know as i've not been to them all yet but you could be looking at around 10+
@mark_garner Thank you, Mark, so much for your detailed answer 👍
Your welcome@@mycleanereg5867
The only thing is, that there is way too much new development going on Telford and surrounding areas at the moment. If you look at Lawley for example, and further out, Newport, they are just taking all the green space. I know it is supply and demand but when will it end?
I agree that there is a lot of new development going on in the area but that is happening all over the country. Unfortunately until the population growth slows down and demand for housing drops this will only continue. As long as the council is willing to give planning the builders will keep building.
@@mark_garnerI live over the ridings woodside. New development. Love it here. I know I prob could of got a better house if I waited but I didn't want to wait as I had my inheritance and didn't want to blow it soo just went for a quick purchase and wanted to move out brum asap for a fresh start

The build quality is cheap, no garden or style. an outsider telling people about Telford is a joke. Builders told me at the time, the estate was cheap garbage.
The build quality is fine with this one, I agree some builders don’t take the time to make sure their contractors are doing the best job but there was nothing wrong with this house. And what’s wrong with me giving my opinion of the area since moving here?
Nothing wrong with you're opinion, but as an outsider is insulting. We are are locals and having you telling people about our towns is an insult. @@mark_garner

What do you know about Telford? Ask a family who has lived their for generations what they think about the new town and how it imported all the social problems from the cities. How Telford is the asian grooming capital of Britain. and still is if you ever go down regent st or Victoria avenue, which used to be posh before the invasion.
Sorry you feel this way, I've come from Walsall and Telford seems a lot better place to live than there. It's all about peoples perspective and what they are used to. I feel a lot safer bringing my kids up in Telford than I ever did in Walsall.
good for you, but not for the real local people who have had their towns destroyed with cheap housing estates and crime. @@mark_garner
To ask Mark the question "what do you know about" Telford seems somewhat rude. Mark has lived somewhere else (Walsall) so probably knows more about Telford than you give him credit for. He has the benefit to be able to compare and contrast the two places and make a judgement based on his experiences in both places. I'm grew up in inner city Birmingham Lozells,Aston, Newtown. I have the same ability to know how Telford feels compared to Birmingham. Spoiler alert! Telford is many times better
You cant know Telford like a local. Brum over flow has ruined Telford with drugs and inner city social problems. Your a clown.@@jonathanm8390
Born and raised in Telford unfortunately Telford isn't what it used to be massive over devevelopment and fast growing community resulting in strain on local services.
The hole country has a stain on services so Telfords not an isolated case, this is down to the councils not reinvesting the extra tax they are receiving in to providing these extra services when they know full well that the demand is going to rise as they have approved the planning in the first place. Every Village, Town and City has already expanded over time as the population grows. Why should it be different now?
@@mark_garner just a shame to see a once great town being destroyed, Telford will be the next Birmingham mark my words!

Hello Mark, It was a lovely video. Thank you. It would be lovely if you could compare places in the area e.g Shrewsbury v Telford and rate them . I'd like to see that.
Thanks for taking the time to leave your kind comments. Maybe that will be something I do at a later date.
I moved from Norfolk to Telford way back in 1981 (for work) and it was very much a concrete jungle back then. But the old Telford Development Corporation had an extensive tree planting programme back then and forty years later, we can all see how well it worked. Pretty much everywhere is lined with mature trees. Although I'm an East Anglian by birth (Cambridge), Shropshire and Telford has become my adopted home.
Would love to see what it used to look like, they definitely did a great job with the planting as it still feel quite rural even though it has expanded over the years.
Omg I am originally from Cambridge. My mum still there. Was living in brum last 4years now moved to telford for the foreseeable future now
Crimes quite low id say, the cops in Telford are probably the biggest criminals .
I would definitely say crime is lower than other areas not too far from Telford but what makes you say the police are the biggest criminals? Are you talking from experience?
The market towns were lovely before the slum of telford was created. Move chavs from the cities with their social problems was a disaster for the area. This is the truth. Delete if you dont want the truth.
Dont come to Telford, we dont need anymore overflow.
Sorry you feel this way. Telford is a great place for people to come and live.
@@mark_garner Not feel, I know. You people who move into the area have no idea.
I lived there for three years and got to say it’s nice tbf just feels a bit far
What do you mean it feels a bit far? Do you mean from the other major towns and cities around us?
I have lived in Telford since the 80s when my family moved here from West Midlands Good points Wrekin area is beautiful lots of unspoiled countryside Ironbridge nice museums shops, pubs and of course the Ironbridge, also lots of nice walks Town park good for kids the town centre is ok for shopping Bad points Lack of a decent night life if you’re after that kind of thing Never ending house building around areas like Priorslee and Lawley Wellington town centre is grim so is Oakengates centre Growing population making the roads more congested Public transport not great
Thanks for your comment. I can see what you mean about the lack of nightclubs but there are still some good places open till late. If I’m honest, having lived in a major town the congestion is Telford is nothing compared to what I had to deal with in Walsall.
Yeh, loads of house building by the council, despite A&E closing. Seem great, if you want to wait 2 years for an appointment.
Telford is a good place. I've made several CZcams videos exploring some amazing and beautiful areas of Telford for anyone interested in exploring some more random and interesting places 😀
Sorry to contridict you . I know i might sound like an arse hole but The man responsible for the design of the Iron Bridge was a Shrewsbury architect called Thomas Farnolls Pritchard.
Hi John, Don’t think you are being an arse 🤣 I stand corrected and you are right, please accept my apologies. I’m must have got the wrong information when doing some research on the area. Thanks for pointing that out. Have a great weekend. Mark.

Hi John, Your welcome, we absolutely love it over here. Should have made the move years ago.
Only thing is the grooming gangs in Telford wellington.
No way, I hadn’t heard about that. We did have some of that going on over Walsall. I hope that these people are caught and charged.
