OK....he can compose like Mahler or Beethoven in the slow tempi, but does he have anything to offer that is fiery in fast tempi...sort of like the last movement of Beethoven 7 or something really fiery like Richard Strauss "Don Juan" or the last movement of Mahler 1? Now, that's the mark of a composer.

It's amazing that someone today can still work within the tertian/diatonic system and create something really new and meaningful! When we really thought that we had exhausted this system,...now ...someone with immense talent...breathes real life into something that we really knew all along was it!

Just this morning I awoke remembering the words to one of Michael's great and beautiful songs called "One Light". I began to recall the melody and then the words to this beautiful prayerful group melody from a cassette tape of the Celebration Collection from about 30 years ago. This is work and, more importantly and underlying radical-love philosophy that is precisely and all that is needed to save the entire world - the sanctity of *all* life, not just all human life independent of race, gender, national origin, beliefs but of ALL life and righteous humbling of human-kind to know that nothing is put here for our unique use and we have no right, indeed it is entirely wrong, for us ever to think we "deserve" more respect, care, bounty than any of the other life forms w/whom we share this gorgeous, generous, giving planet. Literally the adoption of this "creed" this level of awareness would end all war, all profiteering at the expense of the health of our Mother-Earth, the life/freedom of our fellow species. No one would take or buy more than they needed for healthy sustenance -- no giant houses filled with stuff, no fighting over stuff bcuz it would hurt us inside, we'd feel shame and sadness if we behaved in such a selfish way. This ethos would save the entire Planet and bring lasting peace... "and the wolf shall dwell with the lamb" Isaiah 11:16... lasting internal peace instead of angst and fear and greed and anger and thus we'd have real joy, not the "where's my next toy" joy. Blessed be, EarthFire. NOW folks who have come to watch this video - how do we, the choir make sure this message gets out, gets understood.. .do we just passively view/take and then walk away? Or do we send this message as far and wide as we can, do we hit the subscribe button and the thumbs up buttons? That's the least we can do.

I always love watching this trailer and felt absolutely privileged to be able to sing Sure On This Shining Night and the Lux Aterna at my college and even had a chance to meet him and have him signed my Lux Aterna and got a photo with him. Truly a talented genius who will be remembered for all eternity

I join Dana and Daniel in their praise for this work. Jeremy, Maria, and Paula work at such a level that each of us who hears this wants to have been on the island that night. It can't be overstated that while Morten's music simply lifts the listener onto another level -- for too short a time -- he also honors his poets with a sensual and subtle intelligence few can match. Dana's 'Prayer' is such a gift in itself, and in Morten's hand, that "shadow of the rainfall" goes redolent with such grace that this one magnificent phrase stays with you for hours. And then we find, of course, that Dana has translated the Neruda, a meeting of three rare minds. To Lauridsen, Rilke, Gioia, Neruda/Gioia, and Agee, we can do no less than keep listening -- and learning with gratitude.
