4k for an hour interview? I hope he puts on eyeliner and is in full costume for that much.
This needs to happen. He's only got so many interviews left in him as you never know if he'll be able to again. The man is not only a legend, but probably the single most influential person in the ninja movies craze of the 80s, which really shaped all of the pop culture surrounding ninjutsu and Hollywood ninjamania for millions of people around the world, including you Sensei.
Love this, I have a very similar background and story
How about an interview with Mr. Hayes or the living legend Frank Duex😅 lol
Short interview with Hayes comes next week.
Screw him
I hope to see an interview tho. It would be great.
Hi sir, Justin here...I wish I could sponsor. Extremely poor . Have a great weekend.
WOW Sho Kosugi 😮
We must be twins as kids. You described my entire childhood. The master TV show was mind blowing back then
Talking about “martial art education”? Well if you want a strong experience read this new one on a/οn, titled Myths and blind spots in the fighting arts’ world? Reading it one time will not be enough. All instructors need to read it and actually reform to what it says. Anyone reading it, no why I say that.
fuck yes this was killer i am currently working with this weapon
The Bansenshukai mentions using square tsuba on katana. It seems reasonable that katana may have been modified (wakizashi blade with katana tsuka and square tsuba) for some missions, but more likely to appear as normal katana.
Your voice sounds a lot like Robert Beltran who played Chakotay on Star Trek Voyager
I love this.... Thanks sensei. You make it looks easy
Awsome
Verry interresting, safe way to manipulate, like firearms
I HAVE BOTH OF THESE 💯😎👍
with no habaki, the blade would break at the handle
great video. Really liked the note on difference between this and okinawan styles. The staff is one of my favorite weapons.
Same to me. Hope more videos like this. Thanks, sensei..
Agreed!!!!!
I see the guys over at RVA doing that during their cutting demos as they take turns handing the katanas to each other. I can't for the life of me figure out why they wouldn't just put a table or stand nearby and set the sword down so the next person can pick it up. It's faster and exponentially safer.
Those guys definitely know how to handle their swords. So, if is discussed that they will hand them over quickly with each other between cuts, it is fine. This video posted here is more for formally handing over swords, when it is not with trusted friends casually cutting, etc.
Actually, there are only 8 named Soke for the 9 Ryu. Gikan Ryu and Takagi Yoshin Ryu were given to one person.
Thank you for the clarification.
Nice way
as always very educational
Thanks for uploading this . I hope more jo training videos like this .
I think it is heavy to lift opponents hand the way it show in the video, because there is no enough leverage . Just my thinking ....
You are right. These are not lifts. Supposed to be a full-on, fast strike. It looks like lifting because he has to slow the strike way down for teaching purposes and for safety. These are always full-on, full-speed blows, not leverage lifts.
@@thedojomartialarts oh, i wrong then. I think that's a lift. Thanks for explanation. Now i got the picture.. Keep uploading great videos about hanbo /bo...
Actually the Jo staff is more practical than the Bo staff
Depends completely on the purpose and situation. As practitioners, we try never to dismiss or categorize any weapon as "better" than any other. Too many factors...
I used mineral oil applied the same way on a spring steel ko katana for over ten years...worked great. I made the same mistake cutting branches and it acid etched the blade on a few small spots. I polished it out but never it again.
One Year ago this channel uploaded a Video called „Training Swords - Wood, plastic, aluminum alloy or steel?“, and I wanted to ask where the first steel sword was bought (blue handle).
Great vid. I have recently started forging Japanese style edge weapons. Love the style and precision. Working on a Tanto now which I actually made like a mini Wakizashi since the Tanto has a guard. I have twin Wakizashi's forged to shape and ready to go. I made the Tanto as a practice run before I started on the larger short swords. Again, thx for the info. I notice the spine side of the tang is straight and the other side has the taper, I tapered both sides of the tang on all 3 weapons. I think I will forge the spine side straight from now on as this will help when carving and fitting the scabbard and handle as this will make keeping everything inline easier. Forge On!!!
Thanks
I got to admit this and I mean this respectfully. That was quite great and entertaining to watch. You can deffinitaly see the power of the staff when there is a strike and movement. I wish we had this style of Martial Arts here in BC. We have some traditional martial arts like Wing Chung, Choy Lay Fut, Maui Tai. all though nothing as Budo where I am from. Thank you Sir for another great lesson and video, it is much appreaciated.
Great video.... thanks so much... 👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing this ..... ❤
Thank you so much for making this video, demonstrating a SAFE way to do noto. While there may be no single correct way to do it, there are absolutely an infinite number of incorrect ways to do it, and those can lead to injury. A while back, I was prompted (in a pretty snarky way) to make a video showing how I preform noto, after I tried to respectfully warn an individual who should have known better, that he was teaching his students a very dangerous way of resheathing.
YT do not deserve this kind of knowleged 😉
good sai
Is there a hint for not getting blisters or soreness on your hands when training with a bo? thanks for sharing your knowledge with us..
You can use with hanbo and the bo this good strike learn this in hour thumb up i love this video
Is there is a similarity between the fighting techniques with the bo staff and the yari? Did they use the yari to strike and block with like the bo, or was the spear just a stabbing weapon?
Love this content!!
The staff is so underrated. Awesome video, Sensei! 👍✊✊
Thanks for sharing. I love the bo!
Wow! Ordering this next payday for sure. Awesome!!! 👍👍👍
She sounds like an AI translator program. LOL
Thank you for these question sessions, Sensei Norcross. We love them!
Great advice, Master Norcross. Thank you very much for being a bright, inspiring light in the martial arts world.
Excellent content 👍
