Es muy común entre los latinos particularmente los italianos que no se sienten cómodos cuando viene gente de otras culturas a hacer lo que les es propio mejor que ellos. Ante la evidencia misma alegan necedades... En 60 años no había habido un barítono como éste: su voz es un milagro, un capricho de la naturaleza. El timbre es casi tan bello como el de Bastianinni y la voz es tan poderosa como la de Warren. Yo lo encuentro un artista: con buen gusto, fino, elegante, y bien formado. Pensar que todos los cantantes deben abordar el mismo repertorio con el mismo gusto y estilo es absurdo. No hace falta comparar a este artista con ningún otro: es completo, maravilloso y único; y no lo encuentro inferior a ningún antecesor, y sí superior a la mayoría. Es cosa de darle tiempo porque como artista seguirá madurando.
