For someone with a channel dedicated to the sport, you really need to do your homework on the scoring criteria of mma. Control time means nothing unless it’s a standstill match, same with takedowns. Pantoja could be hugging Steve from behind for 4 minutes, but with a sliced open forehead it means nothing because it’s DAMAGE BASED SCORING. Damage based scoring.

Pantoja held down Erceg and wasn’t able to effectively ground and pound and do damage he also didn’t attempt almost any submissions. This is damage based scoring and some people are having a serious problem understanding that. Pantoja for most of the fight was backing up and getting countered when he would try to come foward with his wild flurries. He would land as well but Erceg was landing the cleaner shots Along with the elbows that cut pantoja which should have given Erceg the 5th rd along with the win. Never seen fight study when he gets a pick right actually go against that pick.

Jamahal didn't have a chance, and he clearly had some delusion, but if you hear him speak long enough that he drops his "I'm the best an nobody respects me" persona, you see that he's a real smart dude and has lot of quality and potential. If he surrounds himself with the right people, who knows how much he could grow from this defeat

The rankings are made up from a poll of fight media. Since they are meaningless, it just doesn't matter that Steve is #10. The UFC isn't a tournament where wins and losses determine ranking placement. It makes sense for literally anyone to fight for the title if they are good enough, and Steve is good enough. I think Pantoja will make it messy and mess up Erceg's higher skill flow.
