Vitamix 5200 vs. Vitamix Pro 300

Side-by-side comparison of the Vitamix 5200 with 64 oz. and 32 oz. containers VS. the Vitamix Pro 300 Series from Sur la Table. Compare noise, volume, power, size, and more with your own eyes and ears. from Liz at www.LizVoosenWellness.com UPDATE: It is now 2020 (8 years later!) and I still LOVE my Vitamix 5200 and use it almost daily. Magnificent, Liz! I can face anything now.💜
So glad you like it! <3
Power lifting is for hairdryer , halogen heater , kettle ,not a microwave. I advise to look at manual
Great test. Think it could handle a 700w microwave?
probably. it would depend on its peak draw, which should be listed somewhere in the specs of your item. good luck! lmk if it works.
@@lizvoosen thx for the reply!
Vitamix Pro 300 you can resharpen the blades like i did buy the tool wheelchair Larry Merry Christmas
I’ve just bought one of these and I’m going to get a 700 W small microwave of Amazon for 50 quid excellent living in a van man
so good!
What was the charge drainage from the Bluetti after running the microwave for 30 seconds?
Very little. (sorry, not a number). But I could easily go a week microwaving meals and not run out of power.
As you got no ground, microwaves arent stopped by the faraday cage of the microwave and close like this you could have break your Bluetti
A note on microwaves. After my last one bit the dust I picked up a Panasonic Inverter Microwave. It's so powerful I have to reduce power in the menu. Before hooking up my Bluetti AC500 I set up my Kill-a-Watt meter (everyone using battery backup units should have one.) The Bluetti ran it just fine no sweat, but the Kill-a-watt meter started beeping and the display went crazy, flashing multiple readings. I couldn't get a reading on it but the Bluetti indicated it was drawing +2100 watts! The poor meter was rated at 1875W at 15A, and now the readings are out of whack. I ended up buying a new one with wifi and lighted display, rated at 25A. My Bluetti can output 5000 Watts, but smaller models will be different. Just know how much it can handle.
I want to know if it will run a normal 1100 watt microwave.
You need a ground to run a microwave for the faraday cage to protect yourself from mictowaves
OK, so it runs a small MIcrowave. The real test is cooking food, not warming water. Charge the AC120 to full, and see how long it will run a MIcrowave before shutting down, and that would be the better test.
well, no, because when would you ever run a microwave for more than 3 minutes? Most of the time, I run it for 30-60 seconds. "Microwaves cause water molecules in food to vibrate, producing heat that cooks the food" according to the FDA. So if the water warms, so will your food.
I agree, those Microwaves are plain and simply for heating not cooking from scratch@@lizvoosen
your 600watts microwave is 600watts of cooking power, in real life it used 1130watts, mine is a 1100watts of cooking power and use 1700watts total power. My AC180 drives my microwave without problem for at least 6min (time to heat my frozen lunch) :)
Thanks for the info!
Happy it worked for your microwave. It won't run my 1000w microwave that pulls ~1650. From the get-go the microwave grumbled regardless of the settings on the AC180. Maybe my microwave is too old to appreciate these new fangled ways of powering it :D
@@cherylschneider-lr9nb good info here! yeah maybe try a newer smaller microwave like the one I use in the video :) good luck with it!
@@lizvoosen Since I don't test things for a living (or even a hobby), I'll stick with the one, over the range microwave I have. I just kept using my Ryobi power station until I bought a bigger unit during prime sales to act as an emergency backup power supply for my second pellet stove.
To those asking if the AC180 will run a bigger microwave. It will NOT run my 1000w over the stove microwave. Technically, it will, but the microwave was groaning so badly that I didn't let it go for more than a couple of seconds. I tried different modes on the AD180, 60v, power boost (or whatever they call it), and it made no difference. My Ryobi 1800 battery station will run the microwave fine (I use it every morning), so not sure why the AC180 won't. I was disappointed as I wanted to get the big, clunky Ryobi off my center, but that didn't happen. Otherwise, the AC180 has been good at running other things such as window fans, small portable dishwasher, coffee machine - oh, and charging the batteries to the Ryobi power station.
Thanks for the info. This was also my experience (the groaning microwave, not happy or working well at all) trying to use this little microwave with the smaller Bluetti AC60.
Where did you order yours from? And why didn’t you use a more powerful microwave like 1200w?
I got the Bluetti from Amazon. Link is in the description. I specifically got the lowest power microwave I could get so I could run it with the smallest battery for the longest amount of time. In my kitchen, I have a regular higher power microwave. But for heating food up and boiling water, the 600 watt one for my car will be totally sufficient :)
Wow! How i wish to have that kind of Power station...to be use in our church...so very expensive here, i cannot afford yet.😢
it is a truly amazing bit of electronics! I wish you the best!
Great real world demo. I appreciate the specs, being an engineer, but the real world applications are the bottom line. The AC180 is a great product. Power and portability in one neat package.
Real world applications, yes!
Good video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you am glad I got one
me too :)
Nice! Curious if it'll run an 1,100-watt microwave without tripping past the 2,700 surge. This is good info, thanks!
Good question! If you find out, let me know!
We have the 5200 12 years old still in like new condition. In your video, the only thing is 1~10 is not yet the highest speed as you mentioned. You were comparing VM pro 300 on the highest and loudest speed to the 5200 on next to the highest speed. just saying :0) If you watch all the costco blender demos much is revealed on how well they made (without a complicated menu) the perfect professional manual bender. Today in 2023 If you're delegating the blender to family, non-experienced people that's where the newbie menus and safety features of the newer vitamix blenders possibly become something to consider in the kitchen. We recently purchased the SS 48oz container and the Steel makes the plastic ones seem quiet. Vitamix are loud we wear some ear muffs when we don't want the noise while blending.
you are so right. I made a mistake there! But later in the video, I do get the proper comparison, so you can see it there.
The noise comparison test was done wrong because the 5200 was not flipped to high. High on the 5200 is the same as 10 on the 300 and other G series blenders. The 5200 has a louder higher pitch tone. You cant go wrong with either choice though. It's all personal preference and budget allowance.
Yes, you are correct - the first comparison I did wrong. Later in the video, it is flipped up to high and you get an equal comparison. Thanks for your note!
I'd wish you test them with something like making soups and other things
Does it lock tight when it's on, making it impossible to be opened ?
Yes
when its under pressure inside a safety locks the lid. before pressure is attained the lid cant be twisted and opened. also if a child touch the steam valve while under pressure it can shoot a jet of boiling steam and hurt your child. so watch your children around this.
For me, knowing that the Vitamix 7500 is the exact same blender as the Pro 300, which I happen to have, vs. my mother's Super 5200 that we bought, like, 10 years ago... That has much to be desired. I mean, I finally noticed that the variable speed on my mother's Vitamix was in working order. For the longest time it would only work on high speed for her. When I was working with hers vs. working with my 7500, the noise levels were fairly identical.
Robert Morin
I have the 5200 bought. Sure, the Pro 300 is certainly a little better, but that is not worth the high price difference. The 5200 in Germany costs € 544 ($ 605) and the Pro 300 costs € 694 ($ 772)! Pro 750 is € 894 (995 USD)
Nicely done.
Why put one on the Slow settings ... not fair comparisson.
+AweSomo84 Hi, there is an equal comparison further into the video. When I shot this, I was new to Vitamixes, and the comparison you mention was an error on my part. Good catch!
Liz Voosen can you do a video with real food like 🍎🍍🥒🥝🍓 please
I'm trying to decide between the vitamix pro 300 and vitamix 7500
They are the same machine. There are different color choices, and different cookbooks. I chose the 300 in "onyx", because I liked it better than the black that the 7500 offers. I like the cookbook I got, but haven't seen the other one.
The mini jug also fits the 300 pro.
So for quick comparison on noise: G Series Vitamix Pro 530 1:33 | w/ water 3:58 C Series Vitamix 5200 64oz: 2:18 | w/ water 5:33 C Series Vitamix 5200 32oz: 3:22 | w/ water 4:20
how loud are they? will it fit under my counter... I don't want a $500 blender if it doesn't fit under my counter.... #firstworldproblems
It's not quiet! But it's not horrible either. I have no issues with the noise, but the kids cover their ears. :) I got the smaller wet container for the black vitamix in addition to the standard big one, specifically so it would fit under my counter. The container that comes with the red blender is supposedly sized to fit under the counter, but it was too tall for mine.
I want a vitamix but it does not fit under my standard kitchen cabinet. Why they did not think about that.

for the longevity of your blender, start the thing on setting 1 or 2, then dial it up. That harsh clicking sound is the motor going from 0 to 999 immediately, which is pretty taxing on the socket, I'd imagine.
The 32 oz is the DRY BLADE carafe. Not for wet ingredients.
Hi V Fran, They make two 32 oz. containers. One for dry, and one that's just like the standard container but smaller. The one in this video is the latter. Thanks for watching!.
Ooops you had wrong speed. But the first part of the test was still good.
Also, I originally thought they meant the container was 40% quieter, but it's the motor that's 40% quieter.
Hi Liz, You had the 5200 on low and not on high during your water ice comparison. I think you will hear a definite difference in noise.
Hi liz, i think you had the 5200 on low, tha's why it sounded lower than the 300 thakns
Great review of these blenders. We just got the 750 model and after seeing many of the comparison videos it's fairly close in sound to the 5200 & 300 Pro model. We really like the 5 preset options on the 750 which enables us to make smoothies, frozen desserts, soups, puree's and to clean the pitcher easily. We got rid of a KitchenAid Pro and Ninja Ultimate blenders because the Vita Mix does everything they did and a LOT more. Thanks for sharing.
The pro 300 is exactly the same as the pro 750 but without the 5 preset options
Can you do a smoothy for one person in the 5300?
Great share
Hi, unpoedic. The 32oz container I used is for wet. I do not have any of the dry containers.
Hello, Liz, thank you for the demonstration video. I am currently waffling between Vitamix's Professional 300 or 7500 (essentially the same) and 5200 models. While Vitamix advertises their 5200 model with a tall 64-oz. wet container and a 32-oz. dry container, for your demonstration you use ice/liquid in the 32-oz. dry container. Is the 32-oz. dry container actually meant for dry OR wet uses...?
I have the Vitamix 5200 and love it. I use it everyday.
I'm in the market for a new blender with the priorities of nut butter making, almond milk and nut flours. Does the Grain /dry attachment fit both machines?
Is there a difference in how things are blended between the two? The Pro 300 seems to have a wider bottom while the 5200 has a narrower bottom. I'm wondering if that affects how fast and well ingredients are blended.
I did not ever find a difference in anything I made in the dry container versus the wet personally. I tried all the grains I could think of except wheatberries that I didn't have access to. I found it just as acceptable to use the wet container for anything that would normally consider a dry container product. Mine has been in the cabinet unused in ages.
Thanks for this BUT...would've been more useful to see a finished smoothie along with your comments as to the smoothness/consistency they make, as opposed to noise or fitting under the counter. Most will find that with a standard 18" counter or higher, the height won't matter and/or use a smaller 300 container if it is, and to be honest the noise is considerable for either so WTF lol
Vitamix Pro 300 is the winner.
