மூன்று முகம்
Degrees of comparison are used in English to compare one thing with another. They come in three forms: positive, comparative, and superlative.
1. Positive Degree
The positive degree describes a quality without making any comparison. It is the base form of the adjective.
**Examples:**
- John is tall.
- The book is interesting.
2. Comparative Degree
The comparative degree compares two things, indicating a higher or lower degree of quality.
**Formation:**
- For one-syllable adjectives, add `-er` to the end.
- For adjectives with more than one syllable, use `more` or `less` before the adjective.
**Examples:**
- John is taller than Mike. (one-syllable adjective: tall)
- This book is more interesting than that one. (more than one syllable: interesting)
- The test was less difficult than I expected.
3. Superlative Degree
The superlative degree compares more than two things, indicating the highest or lowest degree of quality.
**Formation:**
- For one-syllable adjectives, add `-est` to the end.
- For adjectives with more than one syllable, use `most` or `least` before the adjective.
